A paid off 2008 Accord (wife's car). She puts a lot of miles on her car and it's held up well.

There are definitely some interesting "others" in this thread. My other is a jeep Wrangler Sahara.

I always had a wrangler as a kid. But as an adult, I couldn't live with one as a full time daily driver. With that said, the latest generation wrangler (jk) is more civilized. Mainly b/c of the longer wheelbase, disc brakes were finally added to the rear axle, and more of them available with better gearing (411).

The Jeep serves it's purpose in the winter. I put the hardtop on, and the jeep is used 75% of the time, as my oil burner rocks summer tires all year. and it gets cold in philly.

in the summer, I put the rag top on and use the jeep for light trailriding/camping trips and driving around our mtn property.
also for hauling a lightweight canoe/kayak trailer.

Wife has an Audi A3 2.0T, but it's getting old. She's looking at a TDI now, possibly Passat or Touareg.

I'm selling my jeep. Having serious issues determining what to get next.

It should be a hatchback, my 335 seats don't fold down. It should have awd but get good mileage. Or fwd and have factory sport suspension, like a gti. But alas, it should be different. My jeep was SO different from my car. I am not sure if I NEED a gti and a 335d. It's a pita decision.

The 2008 r32 is in the price range, but I wish it was the newer R motor, the turbo. Not the 3.2L. So, I'm not considering it.

Subaru and volvo have a few options, but the motors are dated.... are not direct injected, mpg could be better.

The new Subaru impreza (base model) gets great mileage for AWD, but it is most certainly not too fun or different. I seriously considered that & an m6 instead of the d, but decided that I would rather compromise on the d for a DD in lieu of having a fun car some of the time.

Wy don't you like the old r motor? Just the gas mileage or some other facts of which I am not aware? Personally, I always liked the old r32s. I haven't driven the new ones but the NA v6 was a large part of the appal. To me, the larger NA engine made it feel more Audi than VW especially when driven next to a GTI (and it leaves options for a mean bi turbo setup)

BTW, have you driven the Hyundai veloster turbo with the DCT? I actually quite like it as a DD. the non-turbo is almost as good, but its a bit too lacking in the power department...nimble little guy though

That's a great garage, but you're missing a diesel!

Picked up a 2014 Mazda CX5 for the wife a month ago. We both love it.

Now I've got to decide what to do with my D when the lease is up soon.

After we bought our d last July, we had to get my wife out of a 2006 Mazda Tribute and into a new VW Golf TDI. Not as strong as the BMW but definitely more practical. I'm planning on getting a Malone tune for it once were out of warranty. Definitely a fun car to toss around.

Is that Malone tune for the Golf TDI? What magic does it do to it? A Jetta Sportswagen TDI was on my short list when I bought the D last May.

The Malone tune is for the VW. Supposedly the ecu flash and DSG transmission upgrade will get me from 140 HP and 236 lb-ft to 179 and 290 lb-ft with the Stage 1.5 Beyond that I'll have to do some actual modding. I'd rather not do more since it's my wife's DD. There's a local tuner near work that I plan on approaching. We love the Golf's agility and coolness factor over the Jetta Sportwagen; plus I can actually load all my gear for gigs.

I had a Revo tune on my '11 Golf
TDI. Added 25-30 hp and 50 ft lbs of torque. My Golf was a 6 speed and it was a fun car.

The 'd is in a different league, of course. Still quite happy with the upgrade.
