E91: Do I have a TCU or MULF?
Hi guys,
Need your help here. I've got an 06 325 XI E91 wagon. This is the options I have: idrive voice control AUX in in armrest No USB, No bluetooth, no SOS button, no phone. I've looked under my carpet in the trunk, 2 empty spots. Rear left corner, I can open it and it's got my manuals and I believe a CD changer location (also empty). Question is, do I have a TCU or MULF? I'm upgrading to CIC, parts coming in as we speak. Ordered a combox also. I believe it'll be installed under the floor in the trunk, right hand spot correct? I also ordered a sirius unit, does this fit into the cd changer location? thanks for your help! |

TCU no mulf in 06 at least in the US

If you don't have bluetooth phone and voice control you probably don't have a TCU or Mulf either. The following document shows the TCU location. http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1260829447 A TCU or Mulf would be on the right side. You are going to have to do some tricky programming to get the car to accept those new units because of the build date. Last edited by ctuna; 06-25-2014 at 12:16 AM.. |

Hi there as was said above , you have no bluetooth so it's a big possibility you have no tcu. You definitely wouldn't have a mulf, the retrofit is possible as I've installed a cic and combox to replace a tcu and ccc nav in my 06 320d. Check in your boot to see if you have the wiring already there for the tcu. If not you would have to make up a loom for the new combox aswell as running the optical cables to the boot area.

Thanks guys. I do have pre wiring for the phone/bluetooth in the trunk. Right side under floor has wiring. So prepared for mulf or tcu. Ive ordered a bracket and combox and wiring adaptor.
I wasnt sure if the tcu woukd be elsewhere in the car. I have voice control so I thought I'd have one! |

just change the date in the cas ecu and add 6VA,6VC ,6FL, 6NR, 6NF , 644 , 614,615 removed 612 and added +TELD I think it was to stop sos error due to assist/tcu being removed. recoded cic , combox and kombi, all up and running..... I also run new cables to combox as I didn't have 6fl. Last edited by terminator2k2; 06-25-2014 at 12:46 PM.. |

Also, I was under the assumption that combox only works with CIC. Edit: I see you're doing a CIC upgrade. Nice!!!

I found it odd too. I was sure to find a mulf or tcu in my trunk. I'll open up a few more panels. I have a feeling its on the left side of my trunk wall beside my cd changer location. I did put my hand inside but didnt feel a unit. Time to dismantle!
