n55 ecu flasher

I'm new to this forum and also to modifying my car, so i apologize in advanced if i am incorrect with my info.

I currently have a 2011 335i x-drive m-sport auto. I have been reading about cobb and ess direct flashers. I was looking on their websites and found that all of these mods are for n54 engine.

I was wondering if there are any other ones like those i mentioned that are available for the n55 engine.

I'm leasing the car so i can't do anything to it that will void the warranty, i figure with the DIY style of the cobb and ess direct flash i would be able to turn it back to factory settings before servicing the car.

thanks

I would contact Cobb. They don't currently have an AP tuner yet for the N55. But even if you flash it back to stock, the dealership can still tell it they really looked for it (heard that from Cobb). The piggyback tuners can be unplugged and not detected since they don't flash.

Hope that helps

I called a cobb authorized dealer in ca and he told me that the n55 wasn't a priority to cobb at the moment and to check back in about 6-8 months.

I had the n54 335xi coupe from 08-10 and i needed to service it for "engine malfunction, reduce power" warning light 6 times in 3 years. Nothing but problems with that car.

I guess ill have to wait until they come out with one for the n55.

Any suggestions on what piggy back system to use ? Jb3 is the only one i have seen made for the n55.

Another option is the Juice Box 3 for the N55. It comes with several different maps so you can change the software with the car if you intend to add mods down the line.

Email from cobb about n55 accessPORT

Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately there is no 2011 support. We are going to finish 2007 BMW support and then move to the 2011. Please be patient with us as we're working our hardest to get all of our customers supported. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns that I can assist you with.

well it all depends on what your looking for ecu piggys like procede and jb3 are dependable and you could also delete the faulty coding also flashing where you don't mess with the ecu (cobb) are in development...with the n55 we're relatively new so i would wait IMO...especially with your warranty worries....if not go with procede or jb3.

I'm leaning towards the procede v5. Anyone know if their claim to boost up to 80 hp to the wheels is true ? and is there any where in particular i can buy one, preferably under the websites $895 price tag.

Ess is supposed to come out with their flash for the N55 in the next week or so. Seems similar to the Cobb and should be here soon

ESS and OE tuning have both been saying "next week" for a couple months now (they should just say it's gonna be another month or two, instead of saying next week... It's a little old at this point... PAW motorsports offers a flash for the N55 (but you have to remove your ECU/DME and send to them (there goes your warranty if you don't know what your doing)

My recommendation from both a JB3 N55 user and Procede V4 user on the N54. If you want basic frills go with the JB3.. It's a Stg 1 piggy system, but if you want more high tech fully functioning tune, go with the Procede V5. You can't go wrong with either choice, it's just a matter of how much power are you looking for?

I would rather go with something like the cobb or the ess directflash so i'll just wait a month or two before spending money on jb3 or procede v5.

N55 Tune

I saw that you have a 2011 model. If this is the case then you have an N55 tune. I don't know if COBB even has an N55 tune yet. Secondly, if your car is under warranty then I wouldn't go with any reflash tune. Next option is the Procede v5 or JB3. Now both of these will work but which one is going to work better. They both have the same return policy of 14days trial. You can be the judge for youself. Get some opinion from people who have tried both.

BTW Procede N55 tune is $845 only and its worth the extra couple hundred bucks.

Um, no. 2 maps. Stock and plus 1.

At this rate the jb3 is never going to become stage II

I was reading that the ess directflash was undetectable and could be removed before servicing the car, i might be mistaken about that statement. I would use the procede v5 but i would have to physically remove it before servicing the car and when i had my n54 i had to service my car about once every 3 months due to the fuel pump recall.

email from ess tuning about n55 directflash:

We have this currently under development. A release date has not yet been set.
