transmission fluid change cost
Guys,
Eastside Bavarian quoted $800 for a transmission fluid change - 2009 335i. Can any one recommend a Indy Mechanic for the job ( seattle/east side). I have done oil changes at Eastside Bavarian and they do a great job. Thanks |

You can probably take them this kit and they will do it for 1 or 1.5hours labor.

http://docs9.chomikuj.pl/814658445,P...21_Catalog.pdf Oil Capacity 9 liters (9.51 Quarts) + 0.5 liter for cooling system So I would say your gonna get close to 65-70 percent of the fluid replaced. Without pulling the trans, you probably can't get much more than that out/in. The converter probably holds at least 3 liters - maybe close to 4. But as I don't think the converter is accessible externally (or even a drain plug for that matter), I doubt your gonna be able to get at anymore than just what the pan has. PS - I just called my local indy shop and he confirmed he would probably be able to get the filter/pan replaced and also a mechatronic sealing sleeve (~15$ from the company above) replaced in about 90mins labor time. And its kind of a no brainer to do the mechatronic sleeve at the same time as you have to have the pan off anyway. If you have EVER had let your car sit unused for about a week, you will probably find a puddle below the trans and its probably the mechatronic sleeve thats leaking. Even if you have never had it sit unused, but its anywhere near 50K miles, its probably good to replace the sleeve anyway.

I changed my transmission fluid on my Passat at the dealer and they charged me $450. The Passat transmission is also sealed and a pain in the ass to change. I would have thought BMW would be around $600
