Door Closing Sounds

I have an 08, that has very rough door closings. Especially the front doors closes like they are from an old Chinese car. I am wondering if the door seals are worn out or anything else is going bad.

Any input?

See if some good ol' WD-40 on the hinges and detent arms takes care of it.

You probably want thicker grease on the detent arms if that's it, but I'm not sure what BMW specifies.

I guess I didn't explain correctly: The closings sound unrefined. I am wondering if the seals are done. I don't really think hinges are the culprit here...can they be?

Rattles when closing instead of making a nice solid, yet padded, thump?

when compared to any other car in this price range. The E90 doors do sound like used Chinese(? i don't know) cars. In fact, I think my bathroom doors sound more "refined". Your doors are fine. If it sounds like a 5 year old Civic, then it's sounding correctly.

Yes. It sounds like a beat-up car. So I hear people are saying, on LCI, it's better. I wonder what they changed. Door seals?

I've noticed the same thing.

Pre-LCI doors close with such a cheap sound. LCi's are very solid sounding. I thought it was just me lol

I have a coupe and had the same problem. It is the seals as you suspect. They need to be "moisturized". Also, check to see if your door is still aligned and closing all the way. The catch plate on the door frame moves over time.

my 13 year old volvo sounds more solid than my e92. never had to maintain any seals, lube any hinges, or adjust any catch plates

My 335i sounds very solid. Other japanese cars I've owned has a softer and lighter closing sound but the BMW just feels like a well built car.
