posting this public service announcement without so much as a hint of what specific place to avoid, is like me telling you to drive safely and watch out for that terrible intersection
I appreciate the heads up and friendly reminder for life, but if theres no point of this original thread than to say "be smart", why bother making a post in the first place? at least PM people who are interested the name? It doesnt make sense to go on a public forum, make a post saying "be careful of credit card scammers from a site" and not list the site....what help is that?

another poster mentioned that, irregardless of what you are buying on the internet, weather through this site or elsewhere, you should do a google search of the merchant and appropriate due dilligence, thats all I will say. If youre still curious, do a brute force search of all the merchants that advertise here with the word fraud or credit card fraud included with the name and you can find it easily |

Well as e90post family here, we all have to watch out for each other for our own protection. We all have the same interest in mind, which is to MOD our cars and to find BARGAINS on the price!
I'm sure by knowing who it is we can protect ourselves and each other on here as a family! |

the crooks tried to use my card but it declined so it wouldn't show up on the statement. luckily, my credit card security department called and notified me of the attempts. oh, it was a brand new card & never used before my purchase.

cc use on line
you can get your cc company to give you a "virtual" card number that you can use online. It is much safer and easier to cancel as it is tied to your card and not your actual card number. Even if I was using paypal I would do it that way.
there is also more security with credit cards than with debit cards online. shop safe. |

...most credit cards companies will create a "shopsafe" card for you. You would limit it to the amount of your purchase and for a short time period. After the limit is reached, future transactions are rejected. While your bank connects it to your regular credit card, the vendor cannot... |

But to be honest with you. I have ordered a couple of things from there and never had any problems with my credit card. Just putting that out there. It's not like everyone who orders gets scammed... it's just that when things happen people are quick to post it on here, which makes the issue seem more pronounced than it is. It's a risky business every time you use your card online (or at Walmart, as my gramps found out) Last edited by Brey335i; 05-12-2010 at 09:06 PM.. |
