What do you want to know? I have already done the swap. It was worth every penny.

Well I contacted the company and they have not returned my email yet. Can't buy from them till they give me all the details. Again, I am planning on installing performance exhaust and the performance intake, Found a local speed shop that can dyno an all wheel drive car for 125 for 3 passes.

I can take some pics this weekend if you guys don't mind waiting. I'll take pics of the inside of the new box, versus the U.S. box. The first thing I noticed about the car on the initial test drive was the growl of the engine. It is more noticeable now. It gets up to power very smoothy. I really don't know why BMW made two different designs? The only conclusion I came to was to help the euro versions make more power? Like I said I am really happy with this mod combined with the K&N filter.

Ok here are the pics as promised...
As you can see the US spec air box is small with little surface area and the air has to travel through another restrictive medium (charcoal filter) before getting to the engine. In theory this has to rob the engine of power.

Here is the Euro spec airbox (looks better IMO)

Inside the airbox (K&N E-2022 should be the same filter BMW uses in the performance kit) I was going to measure the surface area of each style of filter but just eye balling the euro filter it appears to have more surface area, thus allowing more air in and the air doesn't have to travel through a restrictive charcoal filter.

Overall this mod can be done for 400 bucks (new parts from dealer and K&N filter online) and it was well worth it IMO.

Would love if you could post a video with sound, so I could hear the "growl"?

Do you have any other engine mods? exhaust mods?

Just curious, your account list you as in the EU (Germany) if that is the case, then why would your E90 be originally equipped with the USA/North America air box? If you are in Europe wouldn't it come stock with the Euro Airbox?

Thanks

Car is US spec. I bought it while I was working in DE. No other performance mods. I'll see what I can do this weekend with my iPods video camera and mic for you guys.

That round filter is not the same as the BMW performance filter. It uses the stocknair filter or a K&N replacement (stock shape). Half of the stock US airbox is reused. This is what it looks like with no lid.

This is the half that is reused.

This is the new half.

This is the lid.

This is the new intake connector. It has wider opening to the airbox. That's why the lid is new.

Yes, and ECS Tuning has now formally posted the link to Euro Box ordering on their site:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...2&postcount=47

You can buy just box and then get your own Round Filter such as K&N, or as a kit including the BMW Round Filter (not oiled type)

So you've placed your order?

Did you order the K&N too?
