Auto jerks forward

Hi all,

Probably a really silly query but my E90 325i Auto seems to jerk forward when I'm about to come to a stop.

I ease off the brake peddle a little before I stop, to prevent sudden whiplash! Unless the wife's in the car putting on make up

Does anyone else get this or can shed some light? Perhaps it's just me being a incompetent auto driver!

Cheers,

Mine does that occasionally and it feels like somebody has driven into the back of me. A reset of the gearbox adaptations via INPA tends to stop it (which incidentally also makes the gearbox as smooth as butter and the car pickup much quicker as well). Unfortunately after a week or so it goes back to normal.

Ok, so at least it's not just me and my driving. Shame it goes back to normal. Not worth doing then.

It's a phenomenon known as transmission slam and the early ZF boxes are notorious for it, especially on the 3.0d e60. It's dropping into first unnecessarily. Often happens if you're slowing at a roundabout, say, and you then accelerate briskly. Feels like your head is going to come off.

Software update helps a little.

Garage List
I had similar on me 46 330.

Definitely get the gearbox software updated (free). It totally cured my e46.
