I do not understand their point, it makes more sense if they had left the 330 added a 335 to try to go back to the consistency of have the last 2 digits inline with the engine capacity.

yeah i figured they would try to maintain that, but over the past couple years more companies have been ~.1 liter and still called it the more "consumer friendly" number, so to speak.

personally i like the way bmw is gonna do it, my friends and i were talking last week about how in a conversation your gonna have to say i have a '330i, coupe' rather then just the 'ci' but the way they did it, 328->coupe, 330->sedan etc.

thumbs up to bmw

So if they use the biturbo engine in a sedan, they will probably call it 336i not to be confused with the 335i coupe.

Not only does it have an iDrive controller without the monitor, but it has SMG style paddles on the steering wheel with an automatic shifter. Is this DSG?

The press release indicates that the 335i with Sport Package and Steptronic will have paddle shifters for a "more sporty" feel.

The e92 tach looks different - lists 8,000 rpm, but the redline seems to have remained at 7.

Current e90 tach goes up to 7,500 with redline at 7,000.

Anyone know the reason for this?

I'm wondering (hoping) that when the face lifted E90 is eventually released if it will adopt the front, rear lights and the neat interior features.
Also it seemed that I have missed something, I was under the impression that the coupe was going to be called the 4 series?

I'm sorry, from the side, the front half doesn't match the rear half. It looks like two different cars stuck together. Maybe it is because the front hood bulges too much and looks fat. While the rear is slim and sleek.

The side view is not pleasing to me. Guess I'll have to wait see it in person.

You have missed something, BMW decided they wouldn't call it the 4-series since an M4 would have little meaning and would dilute the brand that they've spent so long establishing.

The E90 won't use the same lights since BMW have stated clearly that they have chosen to distinguish the E92/E93 from the E90/E91. The price will also distinguish the two model groups.

VERY nice looking! Best improvement shown in the ass of the car, in my opinion!

Like stevemd mentioned - it's about time BMW finally make a coupe that's just not a sedan missing 2 doors!
