60,000 Mile Service
My wife has an 06 e90 and it has a little over 60k mi....her service indicator comes on when she turns the car on...can anyone direct me to a thread that discusses what needs to be done at 60k? If there is no such thread, can someone tell me what needs to be done? Thanks a lot.

I'm about to hit 60k i just flushed out power steering fluid did alignment and rotors seem like they will need to be changed, but the brake light is lit on when i start the car for some reason which comes with a lift light on the dash when it happens so im guessing either one of my brake pad sensors is gone anyone with a little more knowledge on this issue please shed some light.

If you do the maintainence your self you car easily reset the service indicator.
Step 1 Insert key into slot Step 2 Press start/stop button without depressing clutch/brake and wait for the service reminder to dissapear. Step 3 Immediately after service reminder goes out, press and hold the odometer reset. After 3 secs a warning triangle will appear, keep the odo. button pressed and after another 2-3 secs the Oil can will appear. I f you hold it too long (10 secs in total) you will overshoot the runway and some German writing will appear giving the software level/ can bus etc. of the car. Go back to the beginning and start again. Step 4 You are now in the service menu, use the toggle switch on indicator stalk to scroll up/down through the various service items. Step 5 When you have the item you want to reset showing, press the BC button on end of indicator stalk. Reset should now appear in the display. Press in and hold the BC button for 2-3 secs and a clock will start whirling around and hey presto, its done Step 6 You can now either scroll up/down to select another item (as in step 4) or you can press the start/stop button to exit. Sorry if this a re-post guys but like I said I couldn`t find it anywhere. I accept no responsibility if you break your car, this is done at your own risk. |

The 60,000 mile service, is simply the second scheduled 30k inspection.
It includes: Visual checks under the car for leaks of oil, coolant, fuel, brake fluid. Visual checks of suspension, steering, drive shaft, brakes and tires. Underhood fluid level checks and visual checks of hoses & belts. Operation of lights, locks and wipers. Check of body, paint, trim & glass for damage/rust Road Test. This used to be included in the old "Inspection 1 & 2 services, it is now a stand alone and mileage based. I would gues it takes about 2 hours - so figure on $200~250 at a dealer. Tom |

Change all fluids and filters (except trans filter; too soon and too expensive) and you will be fine. Do NOT bring it to the dealer; they will rape you while your kids are watching. Find a good INDY here on this forum in the regional section.
Now if you want to have the dealer inspect the car for FREE this is how you do it. You have them chnage the oil using a coupon and believe me they will give you a list of things that you should do. Just bring that list to your INDY and you will save tons of money. Good luck and keep us updated.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

Here is an example of coupons to look for at dealers. There is a free active inspection. Oil service is not bad, the others I would INDY it if I didn't DIY.
