Experience with selling back to dealer? (norcal)
Getting a new whip soon. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with selling their BMW to a dealer (not a trade-in). Is this generally a bad deal?
I"m also considering auto trader, carmax, craigslist etc. But thought I'd get some opinions on having a dealer buy me out. |

Low ball...... THat is what the dealer will do to you.
You will get more from a private sell. Do a private sell and meet at their bank or credit union and let the bank/credit union do the paperwork. I've done that transaction a couple of times. |

I have done both, so it depends on how you want to deal with low ballers/scammers from private sale and whether you have time constantly arranging schedules and showing the car to potential buyers. You have to weight in between selling the car to the dealer with lost of $$ but fast turn around time v.s. get slightly more $$ but could be time consuming selling the car privately.

I sold a few cars to carmax as it was no hassle. On each occasion I was offered more than at the dealer. I know I could get a little more from private party but it is just not worth the headache for a few extra dollars. Good luck!
