Daughter must keep room clean and no one can enter my office under pain of a horrible and lingering death. Sadly, 2 housekeepers found out the hard way.
So you showed the 2nd housekeeper the grave of the 1st and she STILL didn't get how serious you are.

There's nothing wrong with paying someone else to do certain things. I mean, someone paying you to do whatever job it is that you do, right?

It's very simple for me. Let's take lawn for example. My guy charges like $25/week... would I mow my lawn for $25/week? No. I hate mowing the lawn. So I pay this guy to do it. Now let's say he was charging me $100/week... well for $100 mowing the lawn doesn't sound too bad.

So let's say you have a rare spare moment and you are on the couch watching the indy500 and he comes over to do the lawn. Feel weird??

No, although the sound of his lawn mower would piss me the fuck off. Luckily he mows it during the week.

Two things to consider are the time value of your money (if you earn a lot more than what you pay for outsourcing then is probably worth it and most service providers can do a quicker job than you can) and secondly, what would you say is the opportunity cost of your leisure time..ie what you would be willing to forgo or "pay" for extra hour of fun/leisure activities. The theoretical opportunity cost of leisure time for most people is a lot higher than what they earn and the cost of outsourcing. And if you have kids, the value of that leisure time (spending it with them) is probably higher than without kids.

Agree on the opportunity cost but the income thing a bit of a red herring if you're on salary. i get paid what i get paid.

So, I go home yesterday and the BBQ is supposedly done. It's a 4 burner Weber summit series.

Looks great on the outside and when i lift the lid looks great again. However, he did not clean the griddle, did not clean the underside of the grille, did not clean the spare grill and did not clean the flavouriser bars.

He basically dremeled off the grease but never napalmed the grill and turned it to dust then vaccummed it out.

Super fuckign annoying.

That's tricky. Established places are asking $250+ but they don't really clean, they did a total restoration, which i do not need, my bbq is in outstanding shape.

He wanted $100, i said let's make it $125 but i need it cleaned, not restored, so focus on where i cook.

Did the complete opposite.

idiot.

THIS is the problem I usually have with hiring work out. In the old days (hehe), you used to pay for someone's expertise. Now, you are basically just paying for their time. Labor-type jobs are frequently just farmed out to whomever is available. This is the main reason I do a lot of my own stuff; I know I just won't be happy with the results if someone else does it - or Mrs. jtodd_fl won't be, which is far more serious of a problem.

I have about 8 palms over 15 feet tall with a couple over 30 feet tall. I have created a 24 foot extension "saw" that will help me cut the 15-20 foot ones. However, I am merely cutting the fronds and "seed fronds". I am not really taking care of it like a trained professional.

Add in the fact that each frond can grow to be 20 feet long and the part with the seed can become like 60 pounds, it takes many weeks of garbage can space to throw out.

Here are two of the four that I have in the front. The taller one in the photo is just starting to get out of reach.
