I would say get the 335i. i had both cars and the same year. first i had the 328 for reliability due to the 335i having a bad reputation. months went by and i needed a faster car. after getting a 335i despite the minor issues I've had its worth it all

I had an e92 335 and now have an e93 335. Put some heavy miles on the e92, only had to do coil packs and valve cover gasket. Valve cover gasket was about $650 from Indy shop. E93 has very low miles, I bought it at the end of last summer and stored it for the winter in the garage. Noticed some tranny oil on the floor after it sat. Needed mechatronic sleeve and tranny pan gasket. BMW dealership actually gave me a better quite than Indy shop, so I had them do it for $810. The E92 was a great car, traded it in to dealer towards e93 at 65k miles. I think if you're going to drive a BMW out of warranty, you need to be prepared to pay for repairs that are going to be far more expensive than, say, a Honda, which I drive in the winter. But the 335 will be way more fun than a Honda...possible exception being an S2000. My E93 gives me a lot of pleasure, so I'm prepared to pay for it. If it was just an appliance car that I used to get from A to B, I wouldn't tolerate the operating/maintenance costs, but I love the car, so can justify the risk of expensive repairs. It's money spent on recreation, not just transportation. Bottom line is the 335 really is a great car, and I mean great, just be prepared to feed it.

Get a lot of bugs on the windshield in the summer, dealer charges $140 to clean them off. Sometimes the SA lets me bring my own glass cleaner, and with a coupon, they only charge $110.

Sorry if I misunderstood you (I'm new to modern BMWs that a dealer is willing to even look at), did you just say that they charge $140 to clean your windshield? As in, taking a rag and scrubbing that clear glass pane at the front of your car? Like, you give them $140 and all they do is clean your windows? I must have misunderstood you..

Car is paid off as of a few months ago and I know of the trouble areas for the car plus I have alot of local support. Great platform, YMMV.

You also have lower miles. The troubles haven't started just yet. I just hit 102k. Good luck. I have an indy shop guy I use who has very reasonable rates. It just adds up is what I'm saying. Anyways next big items on the list for me is oem turbos and oil pan gasket.
