Waiting on 335i with M-Sport CPO Realistic?
I'm planning to buy a 2009 (LCI) certified pre-owned 335i (coupe/sedan) with manual transmission and most importantly I want the M-Sport pacakge (i know some may think its not worth it but I really like everything it has to offer even if a lot of it is just cosmetic).
I'm wondering how rare that combination is, and what the likelihood of me finding one at a dealer is in the next year. I'm anticipating more 2009 lease returns coming onto dealer lots after the turn of the calendar year. Is this accurate, or will I be waiting a long time? |

I think you would have a better chance of finding the 335i that you are looking for on this forum and not a BMW dealership...GL

Hmmm, a lot of the cars on the forums have modifications though. Even if they are light modifications, and ones that I will eventually do... I kind of want to start that journey with a clean, fresh canvas you know? I'll keep my eye out, but I was hoping to find someone who works at or worked at a dealership and knows the numbers

it would have to come from the dealer if you want CPO from a relatively new car. The MT is the hard part. I had to search the whole west coast to find one. just goto autotrader and search 500 miles around you, then the whole US if all else fails. I live in SF too and there wasnt a single MT CPO available in the bay area when i was ready to buy. gl

I was in the same boat. I knew it had to be black, manual, M-sport. It took almost 3 months to find it, but picked it up 2 days ago. I found it on craigslist from a local guy who wanted to do a lease buyout. So they're out there, just keep all options open and most importantly don't settle. Good luck.

I bought new in Jan. 2010. Ordered a car in Oct. 2009 for February delivery. Wanted 6MT, Premium, Sport, and Sirius radio. Got a call in January that my car couldn't be built as ordered as N54 production had ended. I spent a few hours at the dealer looking all over the country for a car close to my needs. Only 2 MT cars to be had. I ended up with a 2010 E92, Titanium Silver, Premium, M Sport, Sirius, and 6MT.
Very happy with the ride, as I got M sport for the cost of Sport Package. Kinda makes me glad I has to "settle".

You may have to wait longer than you'd want. The 09 leases will start to expire soon and given that the F30 is due to come out soon I imagine some people will be looking into getting into one of those. If you wait long enough, you'll find the car you want.

It'll always be hard to find a the exact car you're looking for @ the dealer; private is most certainly your best bet. If the warranty is what you want, pick up a third party warranty; The 3rd party I had on my E46 covered damn near everything, every now and then I'd have to come out of pocket 20-30 bucks to cover the residual but sometimes the shop would wave it. After I wrecked I was looking for a 335i sports pack to no avail; all that were available were out of my price range, all that were were broken in pretty well.
Good luck |

I looked for 6 months and couldn't find the right 335i M-sport I wanted. I was flexible on colors, but wanted Steptronic & cold weather package for sure. Never found one. I checked Autotrader, Cars & BMW's own used and CPO site. That was March 2010, I compromised and found a nicely equipped 335i with everything I wanted except M-sport. It's tough.

If you don't mind me asking, what's your rate? I'm not really entertaining offloading my lease for a 6MT but sometimes it's really tempting >.<

I was looking for a similar setup (just with steptronic) and couldn't find one in a dozen states. You can certainly wait for it if you have the patience, but I think you'll have a very hard time finding that car considering you want it in the 6 speed.

UPDATE! I'm the luckiest man on earth.
You guys will not believe this. Literally 4 days after posting this... I found exactly what I was looking for at a dealer that is 30 minutes from my house. I've been looking casually for the last month or so, but only recently have I been seriously looking to actually make the purchase. Anyhow, I got extremely lucky.
I found a Le Mans Blue 2011 e90, 335 xdrive with M-Sport, Cold Weather, Premium and Convenience packages and Navigation AND it's a manual transmission. Here's the listing if they haven't pulled it yet: http://bit.ly/uoJqHq Originally I was looking for a 2009 because I was looking to spend around 35k, however this deal was too good to pass up. It was a "factory demonstrator" which I later found out meant it was driven by a BMW executive, so technically I am the first owner of this vehicle, however it was being sold as a used car with 11k miles. The one thing I didn't like was the oyster/black interior color; I would have preferred all black (although now it's definitely growing on me). But I used this as a negotiating point and was able to get the sales price down to 42,500 and got some all season rubber floor mats thrown in. So I basically got a new BMW at 15k below the sticker with every option available including BMW Assist and the factory warranty and maintenance program. When I drove off the lot my heart was racing... I felt like I robbed the place. Guess it's time to change my screename for this forum. |
