if you liked the m3 so much, i suggest taking a look at Ocha's thread, called "robbing the m3 for suspension parts" or something close to that.
Basically he was talking about swapping out your stock bushings and control arms for M3 parts, as well as getting the M3 strut tower brace for the engine bay, which would give your car handling characteristics of the M3. He has details about what the swap would do and what parts to order if you want to make the change. also, you can try and find Mr. 5, one on the mods, as he had done the same change. |

Bilstein Coilovers should be somethinig to look at. In the official BMW M3 Challenge game, Bilstein coilovers were an option for suspension set up.

Do not underestimate how good BMW is at engineering ride quality and handling. To make your 335 handle like the M3 I don't think there is any good bang for the buck option.
If you can, buy all of the parts the M3 uses that the 335 doesn't and install them. Thats how to make your 335 ride and handle like an M3. Pss9, 10s are a great option and probably the best choice for a multi purpose coilover. They will still not ride like the M3 and you won't get the negative camber the M3 has. Definitely take the suggestions of Clark192. Last edited by jbass524; 11-20-2008 at 12:32 PM.. |

OP are you sure H&R race springs are designed to work with the stock dampers? usually when you install a stiffer spring without a matched damper you make handling worse
Also, M3 carries more tire than 335 so that also contributes to 'better' handling I'd start with better tire and getting the correct dampers for your springs |

Nick, Don't you think the springs would need to match the M3 springs first then the dampers, tension rods and wishbone, sways and tires? Once that's in place you would want to look at ride height and alignment. Sounds expensive but the M3 handling might be worth it. You'll have to research cost. |

If I recall from the thread I posted, the M3 parts don't cost too much, maybe around 400-500? That starts out by giving you stiffer bushings which translate into more consistant handling characteristics, better reponse, and a more M3-like handling feel. However, like other posters have stated, thats not all. You need to realize that its going to cost a lot of money to tune your 335. I think that coilovers are a must, and following that getting M3 parts is next. Tires probably can wait, as that means you need to get new wheels and that would be almost as expensive as getting most of the suspension parts. Check out the thread, there is a ton of info there!

I really am not sure how H&R race springs + matched dampers stack up compared to stock E9X M3. I do think this is all a moot point since the OP (like most of us) is probably not able to fully utilize the E9X as it comes out of the box anyway. but that's a different post |

M3 has several big advantages suspension-wise in comparison with the 335.
LSD is huge. But expensive if you have a welded chunk. H&R springs by themselves are not going to enhance handling. Best value is to get BMW performance dampers and M-sport rear sway (bitch to install though!), and M3 suspension bits. Then think about light wheels and tires. The M3 front strut brace is nice, but not a priority.

You should definitely look into some upgraded shocks and sway bars to improve performance. If you are not happy with the H&R race, you may be better off with coilovers that allow you to adjust the dampening/stiffness (KW V2s come to mind). Tires also play a huge role although I would go with fine tuning the suspension at the same time.

Take away some suspension deflection will improve your handling. M3 pieces will also add a bit more caster and camber to your 335i. Harold |

yeah but the LSD is definetely the biggest difference between 335i and M3 .

adding coilover system will improve the handling 1000x compared to stock sport...I don't think you are going to track the car, so V2 or Fk sliverline x system would be good enough, but if you track I would say go for the KW3
