So, You guys are just calling the dealer and telling them you would like to have the DME updated?
Do they ask any questions... like... "why?" And how would one know an update existed beyond having frequented a forum such as this? I have a 2011 335i Xdrive Sedan, which I ordered in January 2011 and received in April. so I would like to be sure I have the most recent version myself. actually knowing the version is kind of a nice thing... Thanks! Rich |

I took my car into the dealer on Tuesday to get an intermediate oil/filter change, have a safety recall checked on that BMW had just called about, and request a DME upgrade if it needed it. When I got my car back they said there was no safety recall for my car and that my DME version was 2.24.20 and it was the latest version for my car. I was furious! I am going to change dealers.

so because this DME update is making the jb+ obsolete (didn't it unlock something preset by bmw) does that mean that the update provides what the jb+ unlocked as the standard?

no, bmw is now using the maf sensor differently which makes the jb+ obsolete.

My oil change isn't scheduled for another 12k miles... I only have 4.6k on the clock... Seems kinda weird they won't want to change break in oil ... Ive asked twice and they laughed at me.. I'll just do it myself.

Looks like I'm out of luck. I wanted to get this update before considering a JB4. Just got off the phone with a SA. Doesn't look like they'll update my DME. Apparently, my VIN isn't included in the recall notice. My build date was in November 2010. Picked it up January 2011.
They charge to update the software if you're not doing it for a recall. $230 and it takes 1.5 hours. Forget that. So based on my build date, does it really matter that much that my DME is a bit older if I get a JB4? |

i've used twice of mutal 300v racing 5W30 so far.
very good on cooling down your engine. good oil but expensive! 2 liter can- $26. total used 6.5 liter+ oil filter and i will use 5W40 on track soon
