Need advice on lowering my 2011 xDrive Sedan

Last week I purchased a new 2011 BMW 335i xDrive with the M-Sport Package. The car has a large gap between the wheel and fender - making it look raised when compared to other 3-series'. I learned that the 2011 xDrive has an increased ride height when compared to 2010 models.

I would like to have the car lowered to match a normal 335i. the local guy suggested H&R but the drop might be too much (1.3/1.2) or Coilovers - but the ride quality will suffer.

Any suggestions? (springs, shocks, struts, wheel spacers?)

Whats the difference if i just change the springs? I dont want the ride quality to suffer.

I honestly dont care about the cost. Ill pay whatever it takes for the best products available. Im in toronto - if you know of someone that can do this, i would appreciate a referral. Thanks man...

Springs will set the ride height of your car. Lowering springs, such as H&R sports, will lower your. But if you keep the oem shocks, they will wear faster, and the ride will be more hard. You'll have less damper (from the lowered stance) and more rebound (becasue the car can travel much higher with the lower ride height).

If you want to maintain ride quality, get a shock designed for lowering springs. Bilstein has an xi shock/strut.

Coilovers are matched spring and shock setups. Entry level coilovers have height adjustability. More advanced coilover systems will have rebound and damper adjustments in addition to height.
