Evening all.

Can some kind soul point me to the information on the infamous Turbo Actuator problems on the 335D, i'm getting zero pull through the rev range and one of the error codes is for the turbo actuator, so i am looking at getting them changed.

I've used the search function without any success so far.....

Hi Andy - I've had the same problem with random pulling power, but definitely a problem at the low end with my 2007 335d. Took it to the garage as my technical ability is zero and I've been advised to replace the actuators and they were ordered in (I will check the part numbers they got in and report back) but also advised to remove the swirl flaps, replace the glow plugs (error code was showing for these). My local BMW specialist isn't in the habit of creating extra work so I am sure it is good advice.... Will post those part number when I drop the car off this week

That would be brilliant thanks. I've been thinking about getting the swirl flaps done too but unsure if it will effect the DPF.

Hi

Just finished a conversation with the garage.

Apparently, they put in 2 x 11 65 8509 323 and had to fit a different bracket - 11 65 7811 834.

Can't actually find these online, but they are also called "Pressure converters" and there seems to be similar threads talking about replacing these.

As it happens, I have also had to replace the glow plug controller and the vacuum hoses which are perished. All in all, an expensive trip!

Hope this helps and good luck. Apparently, this is a very fiddly job.

Thanks for the info, i've just bought the pressure convertors so will get my local indy to fit them and check all the vacuum hoses at the same time. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Local BMW dealer were trying to say both Wastegates had failed and they couldn't be changed without a new turbo!

I'll let you know if it solves the problem.

I have the reciept with the part numbers at home and can post it if required. The 2 new pressure converters fitted have been modified slightly in design so a new bracket is needed. However its not a must as all that is different is the alignment of holes and the PC can be held on with 1 bolt rather than 2 but for the sake of £15 worth getting a new bracket.

There is also a 3rd EGR PC but thats towards the inlet manifold

I've ordered the bracket too.

The error code that came up said Turbine Control Flap Activation so i don't think its the 3rd PC.

Hi guys. I'm in Canada and had those two pressure converters replaced earlier this year. I think thee first one was shot for sure as the car had no jump at all until the second turbo kicked in at 3000 rpm. Dealer replaced both under warranty.

Those are the exact same part numbers for the converters on my invoice.

Car in the garage now. Pressure convertors replaced and checking all the vacuum lines......hopefully have it back this afternoon

All sorted both pressure convertors, pressure accumulator and all the vacuum hoses changed and the beast is back. to quote the Mechanic "that thing pulls like a f%^*ing train!.

Cost 460 for all parts and labour.

That is not a bad price as the PC are simple to replace once all the covers/access is off. But the pain is replacing the vacuum hoses as some of them are difficult to replace due to the way they are routed. i.e. one runs from the PC to under the engine, up through the back to the inlet manifold
