Lightbulb X5 E70 M sport enhancements

The car is with a dealership tonight, they have fitted oval exhausts ala 4.8 optik and fitted/coded LCI rear lights. :thump:

I've been informed the rear of the car now looks much better.

Updated photos to follow soon. Admittedly I'm excited but nervous too about the new look .

Look forward to seeing the lights and especially the exhaust as this is something I had considered. Whats the cost on the exhaust.

You may already be aware but an essential is clear film on the front of rear arches, side sill and corner of rear doors. There is a major issue with stone chipping but BMW can be pushed to respray and cover in film under warranty.

Thanks.

Davy - The exhaust parts alone are circa £300. After some persuasion the arches/sills were resprayed and filmed under warranty. Appreciate your guidance

Now for some updates...

Very nice looking.

Oval exhausts (also on the 40D) do look good.

Thanks all for your kind comments.

These enhancements indeed do bring the X5 a bit more up to date and crucially they'll keep me entertained with the idea of keeping it a bit longer.

They were around the £600 mark. By the way the prices I have quoted were heavily discounted, thanks to Anneka @ Sytner.

Great seeing you the other night Steve. The B7 has been around for several months. Will share more when I'm back.

The lower bumper cut outs have plastic inserts that pop out and clips to hold these inserts cut away.

I bid farewell to the E70 this morning having dropped it off to its temporary new home until it finds a new owner.

I didn't want to hold onto it anymore as I have decided not to hold on for the new X5 expected next year (M Sport probably Q3 2014). It was a perfectly good car

Probably wise to offload now. Yours looked a treat after your tinkering. I've got a real thing for the X5, would love to swap the QQ+2 for one, keeping my peepers out but doubtful it'll make much financial sense.

So what is replacing it?

Roger you are right an X5 is a spectacular family vehicle and in 35d or 40d it shifts well too. Haven't driven a 50d but imagine its great too.

Lightbulb

Thanks guys.

The trader who's bought my car has it up already on a £5k mark up ! Anyone who survey's the market and knows a thing or two about X5's, would be off their rocker to buy that. Though I'm confident they'll easily clear £3k on it.

The X5 is a lovely on road SUV. It was actually fairly comfortable on standard run flats , which I only realised after switching to non rft's. I'm confident perhaps the standard 19" wheels offer better all around practicality. It's powerful enough even with the lesser xdrive30d 3.0d single turbo engine, and I believe it went even better with a remap . It was fairly reliable and fairly well put together, I say fairly because I did have some minor issues which were resolved by BMW warranty (worth its weight in gold). However it never felt comfortable manoeuvring the thing on and off kerbs.

So I'm partial to a but of kerb climbing. I wanted something which would more capable of handling the rough stuff especially when equipped with the right tyres etc. What's replacing it ...

an all new Range Rover Sport (L494). Had a few of the outgoing models and they're good to drive too. I like the air ride and raising/lowering the thing on cue . I have to admit the infotainment systems are not user friendly and that they often make these on Friday afternoon's
