new cable for iphone 3GS charging issues

I have a 08 335i with the 6FL option. My iphone 3GS would display the error for incompatibility while connected to the y-cable for charging. It did charge (unlike what people have posted) but at a very slow rate. I called the dealer today and there was a new cable released around Oct 20th that apparently addresses the compatibility issue with the new 3GS phones. I am picking it up today so we shall see. My current y-cable has a part # of 0440796 and the new y-cable has a part# of 2154179 printed on the cable. the full part # is 65112154179. Has anyone come across this update yet?

if this is realatively old news, sorry for the post.

Not at all... that P/N is so new that it is not at any the online parts department database yet.

I did the same search and found nothing as well. I'll update everyone in a few hours after I pick up the cable and test it out.

Bad news! I just got back from the dealer and although there is a new y-cable part number that is updated, it still gives the compatibility message and option to put the phone in airplane mode just like the old cable. the number on the cable is the same as the old cable so I'm not sure if the cable is indeed different. There is an update but it is for dealer installed iphone adaptor kits not 6FL from the factory. (that is what the parts manager told me).

My 3GS phone does charge but at a slow rate. I dont do anything when I connect it and the compatibility message appears. The message goes away and it seems to work just fine. Other peoples results may vary.

Sorry if I got everyones hopes up!
