Newbie

Hi all from sunny Scotland. Still an owner of an E46 330Ci but in the process of looking for an E90. Just cant make up my mind, either go sensible and buy a 320d or feed the power junkie in me and get a 330d?

Will be trading in the E46 thru Arnold Shark so it won't be a new car, looking at either 06 or 07 and since i will have a longer distance to travel to work at the end of the month it will be diesel.

Anyway thats my hello part done, look forward to speaking to many of you in the future. Have added a few pics of the E46 before she goes.

Iain.

Welcome Iain, nice pics

Personally I'd go for the 330d unless it was company car and you worried about the BIK tax

I can't see it costing more to run fuel wise than your 330i and if you go for the 320d sure you'll always be thinking you should have gone 30d. That said the 320d is a nice and quick car

Good luck and keep us posted on your purchase

Cheers
Andy

Hi Iain and welcome to the forum. I have owned both the 320d and a 330d. The 330d is MUCH better if you have any craving for power The 320d is a great engine but the 330d is a big step on. If you can afford the 330d is the way to go.

Hi,

I'd defo go for the 330d. What kind of mileage are you doing? If you not doing a lot have a look at the 330i as you know they have a cracking engine

Thanks for the welcome guys.

At the moment i'm only doing 5-6k miles a year so petrol prices don't worry me. Will be moving home at the end of the month making my daily drive to work longer and yearly mileage go up to 10-12k a year.

I know the 330i has a cracking engine and would love another but they are so hard to find just now in the E90 form. My MOT runs out the middle of June so would like to sell the E46 before then, have been checking Arnold Clark online everyday and not one 330i has come up.

I've had E46 320d and 330d Tourings.

I took my E46 330d into a BMW garage with the intention of buying a E91 320d Touring. I test drove one and it was very impressive. The salesmans also let me go out in a E91 330d. From then on I knew only a 330d (or 335d) would do - and that's what I bought.

When I pointed out to the salesman how much better I thought the 330d was - he replied, "well one costs £30k, the other over £40k, so you'd expect it to be a bit better!".

Just in from the dealers with a lighter wallet. Put a deposit down on a 56 plate 330i M sport, roll on the end of the month when i pick it up.

Excellent - would have recommended this over the diesels if that had been one of the choices you had given! Sweet engine, you will have fun with it i'm sure

Yes it's an E90. My intentions were to go and get a diesel but after speaking to the guy he said it would be better if i got the petrol with the mileage i do.
Over the moon right now and can't wait to pick it up and give it a good detail.

56 plate, one owner and 25k miles on the clock.
