I want an M3 exhaust

Hey guys, just want to say sorry in advance because I don't know much about cars and that is why I joined this forum. I'm 18 years old and just got a BMW 328i 08 from my dad. I really want to do some mods to it and the one that I want the most is put a m3 like exhaust to it. The quad exhaust kind of thing. I was wondering how much do you guys think that should cost, I don't want to put the most expensive exhaust but I don't want a ghetto one either. A decent one should be fine nice non ghetto sound. I really don't want to get ripped off when I go to the shops and ask for an estimate so please guys if someone has done it or have an idea of how much it would cost please give me a rough estimate. Also, if you are from the Miami area, I would greatly appreciate if you recommend me some shops I can go to. Every piece of information, detail, and advice I receive will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced!

I would totally pay myself a visit to Active Autowerke if I were you.
Active Autowerke
9940 Southwest 168th Street, Miami, FL

They are one of the best in the bimmer mod business and they wont make you feel like a total idiot.

M3 exhaust wont be possible at a reasonable rate. Sorry

But AA just released an exhaust for your model; and its quite on the budget. Around $600 if I remember correctly.

Go pay those guys a visit, but remember to secure your jaw before going there. Or else its gonna drop off big time.

uhh catback quads or just axle back quads? in the end, if you want something cheap, just go to a muffler shop and get it done. can't tell you it'll sound good tho.

Even if you're down to shell the 2-3k it'll cost you, you'll never get the same sound out of it then the one given by a V8.

Only two exhausts I would consider on a E90; the performance exhaust and AA's

Here's how the PE sounds with a little tweak. PE with 2nd Catalytics deleted and resonator deleted.

You will need a new bumper. $350 or so. Contact suvneer.com. Thats where I got m3 rep. $300 to paint at least. You could just have your muffler modified at the tips to work with your m3 rep bumper. Around $200 in labor. New tips from Cyba $120. Around $1000 right there. I would keep the stock muffler and delete secondary cats. Best blend of performance and change in exhaust note.

hey, couldn't pm back because forum said you can't receive them yet. Here are some of your answers.

You would not have 4 mufflers but you would have four tips. See this pic of my car. You would need to mimic the rearmost pipe section and tips except with a stock muffler.

Buy the tips of your choice from the vendor Cyba on the forums. other tips will most certainly not fit the m3 rep rear bumper. Contact Gary @ Suvneer and you should only pay $280 for the bumper. make sure to tell him quad cut outs.

Also, checkout forum member johnsonz1122's set up. This is almost exactly what you would need to do with the piping. His muffler is almost identical to stock in size. He bought Cyba tips too. He has an mtech bumper and a quad diffusor. It is a little further apart then the m3 rep.

Hey mapleridge, got a video of your sound signature?

OP, might as well get that V8 if you want to sound like a M3.

Jizz... twice.

Sorry...I suck at taking videos of the exhaust...it comes out muffled in most cases. I can try again though. That V8 doesn't sound like the chunky gm/ford v8's. I love that gurgly ford/gm v8 sound.

Thanks for sharing another option that we would have never known about. It is a little pricey. I wish they would show a pic of the actual exhaust.

Not yet. I bought stock midpipes to cut cats out and I will buy stock manifolds today. Once I get it all together I will go into the shop to go 100% catless on stock pipes.

Thanks for posting a pic of your car. Been searching forums looking for a quad exhaust for a 328i. I have a E93 328 and love the look of the M3 quad. Now I can start my project.

I want to do this as well. Will the stock m3 exhaust fit under the car of a 325i, or 328i, I know it would need to be modified, but would the stock definitely be compatible, if modified at a muffler shop?

In theory, it should fit with modification. You would have to exchange your storage bin with one from a 335i/m3 and you would have to reroute a pump under there. Others have done a 335i exhaust on a 330i. It is pretty well the same thing.

That sounds like a pain, I think I will just do it like you instead, what are the exact tips that you have, will I need anything else (aside from the bumper), or do I just bring them to the muffler shop?

Thank you very much!

it's a lot less work, money and weight to do it like I did. Contact forum vendor cyba. I bought his tips. Any of his quad tips should work out for you. Great service. He overnighted my tips from taiwan. Lots of styles and finishes to choose from. I will buy another set soon to complete my ultimate exhaust finale.

You will need a bumper that is made for quad or dual tips.
  • Stock 335i bumper (dual)
  • Mtech bumper with 335i diffusor (dual)
  • Stock 328i bumper with symmetrical cut outs (quad)
  • mtech bumper with quad diffusor (quad)
  • m3 rep bumper (single or quad)

after that you need tips...check out cyba.

Once you have those two pieces I would contact a shop that is capable of doing this. Some may say it can't be done, space is limited yada yada yada. Just find someone with know how that is willing to do it. If it is a newbsteak muffler shop they might take longer and you pay by the hour. Ask people in your local area.
