LCI headlights in pre lci coding question

I have just ordered a set of lci halogens to upgrade my front end.

I know they are plug and play to get working, but do they work as DRL straight away? Eg from the idrive, or do they have to be coded?

Are there any other options?

Can't wait to put them on, but not looking forward to taking the bumper off again :/

Garage List
The lci halogens never used the rings as DRL's, only the cars with Xenons. If you set the DRL's on from the i-Drive then your headlights will come on along with the rings which are used as side lights or parking lights.

They maybe able to be coded as DRL but they aren't very bright.

Not sure of the month but its a 2005.

I have seen in idrive menu settings about DRL and just wondered if I can use the halos. I have ordered a set of led markers from ish to power them

You have FRM1. Its not possible. If you had FRM2, then with coding, halo ring will work as DRL on 12' O clock position of your headlight switch.

Sorry mate, you will have to use manual 1'o clock position on your headlights to benefit from those halo rings.

If its 03/07 onward and has frm2, then yes it can be coded.
Only Halo rings will be on when headlight switch is at 12'o clock position.

If you have DRL icon / option in your odometer, then you can.
Otherwise, xenon + halo will turn on when headlight switch is on 11' o clock position.

yes, you have FRM2, so it can be coded. I guess you need to delete the last 7 digits if your VIN as you do not want to see your car cloned.
