Before Sergei's special edition, I downloaded the standard 08-2 DVD and brunt it on DL DVD+R.

Seems to work, but I did see a difference at all ... (especially the new perspective display has been talked about)

Any ideas ?

Happy Days

Thanks to Coodem and Sergei.
Indeed- Sergei carried out initial testing by deleting the other language folders & using only the ENG data, thereby requiring only a single layer DVD+RW, which could be used several times, without risking any DL disk wastage, allegedly.

Sergei's European friends would not be happy with this, so it is for them that he has adapted the appropriate files for each language, thereby allowing everyone across Europe access to the same Speedcam data, allegedly.

Not meaning to cause an English/Spanish rift, but some Spanish data 'providers' only bothered adapting the Spanish files on a previous 2008-1 release.
Sergei would like to make it clear that he has bit his tongue & has adapted the Spanish files, also, on this occasion, probably.

Tony- when has Sergei Industries ever let you down?

POIs have been updated & improved by allowing sub-category searching.
eg looking for hotels with car parking, for Italian restaurants, etc

Routes have certainly been updated & some POI entries, such as hotels, have also been supplemented using data from the Falk Travel Guide Plus.
eg hotel costs, tourist information etc

All the best.

viv,

Thanks for the info. What I meant on my original question was, is it true that the 2008-2 has a different perspective map presentation as rumour by pimpmynav ???

Noooo.... as Killdork has said earlier, the pic on the pimpmynav site is that of an old MkIV nav system, not the current SatNavPro.

The perspective view on the 2008-2 SatNavPro DVD is just the same as it has always been.

All the best.

If you're refering to the image on Pimpmynaw, that was from the old E46 and so on system, the Mark IV. Nothing to do with iDrive.

I'm assuming you're making use of Sergei's European 'De-luxe' edition, KillDork?

Sergei has allegedly released the following data, for your information:

I've got to say with absolutely no disrespect to coodem that there are a fraction of the speed cameras listed, to the extent that even those on the gantrys around the M25 aren't showing. I'd advise people to get Sergeis.

Not sure if it was my burn of coodems disk, but at a point of the M40 both ways the disk said it couldn't be read and needed to be ejected.

Incorporating up-to-date POIs on a modified nav disc is always going to be a pain, unfortunately.

Sergei Industries has allegedly made use of multiple POI database sources, as it's probably better to be 'safe' than 'sorry'.

The next-generation iDrive will almost certainly incorporate a hard drive based navigation system- its inclusion is certainly intended to make data 'pilfering' more difficult.

However, if BMW & Navteq could be bothered enough to 'open their eyes', they'd see that this would be a lovely way of allowing users to incorporate & update their own POI category databases.
Imagine being able to plug your USB key into your Mac/PC to save your new POI list of speedcams, plugging it into your 6FL port, having the data transfer onto the car's HD & having a new list of POIs.

Even better- what about setting up the MyInfo service on the Assist menu to automatically download the latest xml data from the E90Post UK Forum's 'Sergei Server'?!

..technology would be great if people weren't involved!

Ahh - the Super Delux version - I find the flesh .pps slideshow rather distracting while driving but a welcome diversion whilst sitting in traffic.

Hey
I think you can burn it single layer if you take off some of the maps from countries you don't need, but to do that I think you have use a program to edit the ISO before you can burn it to the single layer.

I thought it just easier to burn it directly to a dual layer.

I am sure someone will add a bit more detail than I can Kin

You can use a program like UltraISO to open the ISO image and then remove the relevant foreign files in the FRA/ITA/DEU/FRA folders.

You then save the file out to a new ISO and it should then be about 4300 Mb - which will then fit nicely on a single layer DVD+R/RW
