Depends on the engine and mileage usually 439 for a year with 100 excess and its well worth it. Use the forum search it's been covered a hundred times

Is there any age at which BMW stops offering extended warranties?

I agree with it is very much worthwhile, but is the average that high?

I'm positive mine is under £400 or paid £41 monthly.

Simm31, you must have a full service history and maintain the service record.

It doesn't have to be bmw main dealer but obvious VAT registered garage to bmw specification.

There is a one month gap between taking out the warranty and being allowed to claim. If you take it out before it expires there is no gap.

Here is the website for warranty. Read up and punch in your registration plate.

https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/

I think every bmw has a few weak points. Read up and work out if the gamble is worth it for you.

Well worth it.

If you're after doing lots of mods inc engine mods then it's a waste of time.

Disagree. The engine work you've done won't be covered under AUC of course but what if the exhaust falls off, the AC stops working, a window or seat motor fails? ABS? The iDrive? All of these jobs cost hundreds likely thousands due to labour / inflated parts prices and could happen at any time.

I'd get the warranty regardless of whether I'd modified the car for all the components you haven't fettled with.

Yes. Fair point.

I should of said don't expect your drive train to be covered if you're mapping away! - but I didn't

Just got my quote through for my 330D 2009 e92 with 63K on it now, they want £700pa with £250 excess... for me it didn't seem worth it. I looked at it as "What are the chances of something going wrong costing in excess of £1000 in the next 12 months"

The quote really depends on milage and age...

It is like any other insurance. The insurance company makes money so it takes in more in premiums than it pays out. It all depends on your attitude to risk and your personal circumstances. I never take out extended warranties and over the years have saved a fortune but I appreciate other people's circumstances may be different.

Had this debate myself a while ago

it is a personal decision and no right or wrong. its what you're comfortable with

the main reasons why I didn't get a warranty

1. when my 1 series was under warranty the battery died - not covered - only problem I had for 2 years. There are lots of items "not covered" and this is a real pain. Speaking to BMW warranty is also painful enough

2. when I had my 3 series vert in the 2 years I had warranty I had a radiator changed (few hundred quid)

3. my current car - right rear light stopped working cost me 100 for a new light and fitting. my only problem for 18 months (touch wood).

4. I met a bmw technician who does all my work now - he can order bits and do the work privately. a lot of them do... the cost is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than dealership prices.

5. I have owned new-ish cars and are less likely to have major problems

6. I have modded mine a lot and so they are likely to blame the mods for everything - its happened in the past...

Does it say that in the T&Cs?

I understood that as the cover is provided by a third party, and they insisted upon franchised BMW dealers doing any maintenance, that you had no choice?
At least, with extended warranties anyhow.

Your point is valid for BMW OEM warranties on new cars, but you might like to check that small print regarding extended (third party) warranties.

They can make any caveat they wish, where as a car manufacturer cannot tie you to franchises legally any more.

A few guys approached Mondial and were given that information in writing.

It says nowhere on the website that you must use BMW for servicing and I've never had any documentation from Mondial either to say that.

If that was a strict stipulation it would have to be firmly pointed out.
