3-23-09 MIR drag racing fun (a few pics......ok a ton)
Had a great time today down at MIR in Mechanicsville, MD. Great weather, good friends, and fast cars!
I'll try and give you all a litte rundown of the cars there, but its getting late i'm 6 90 minute IPA's deep at this point. On the way down, I was riding in Brian's vette, Adam in his 335 running procede V2, dual cones, and straight 104 octane race gas. Adams vette is an LS3 w vararam intake and ported throttle body. Adam was alone. I weigh 190lbs or so. Adams car w this setup is a verified 116mph car Adam got the jump and Brian quickly reeled him in.......started around 60mph and ended around 120mph in 4th in the vette. LS3 FTW! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQMlU_SHBps Adam in his 335 In Brian's LS3 vette, Clay in his e500 behind us Clay and Adam on 495 1st breakage of the day, Brian lost his linkage shifting hard into 3rd, not sure how, his car only has 8k on the odometer. After much trial and error we determined he still had 4th and 6th, he limped home in the afternoon over 1.5 hours through traffic w/ only those 2 gears!!!! Best of luck man....sorry that happened. He was there only to spectate, not even to run.... Blackbenzz's beast of a CLK55...more on this one later! Jamie's brand new 100 mile on the clock Viper......more on this guy later too Don't mess with this car....you've been warned LOL at this plate....the DMV must have been sleeping to let this one pass

Dont judge a book by its cover, this old school Jetta was putting down 650whp, just in the works for a respray
umm.....get new tires man the GT-R contingent is showing up! :eyecrazy some w/ tunes and intakes, others stock continuing ed....needed plugs and a retune but still trapping 120+ :buttrock GT35r ftw BOOST! The ultimate sleeper....would you guess mid 11's? I wouldnt dual purpose ice the ultimate weight reduction thats right.....5 new GT-R's at one drag strip. This why I will travel to MIR even when I dont have a car to run :alright. The cars at the private track rentals are just sick sick sick.

Jamie lining up for his 1st run....took a little while and probably 30 runs but he hit his goal....
ran a 10.92 bone stock! Z06 stock on R comps......:buttrock Adam (Clem on e90post) lining up squatting the rear on one of his many runs where he just flat out couldnt launch.....turns out General's + high hp = fail on the drag strip, but he did put down a few good ones. his car only had Procede V2 (an old tune nowadays), 104, dual cone intake and he hit 12.34 at 116.1mph w a 6 speed.....good driving man :buttrock Sick e63 AMG w tuning thats better!! bone stock on stock tires......he's getting closer! me tuning Adams procede in the pits Ahmad showing us how you heat up the DR's.......car is no joke. This is without nitrous, which he has Time for more VHT on both lanes

Stellar work with the pics as usual. The cars that show up for these things are always a treat.
Finally I got to line up with cars I could run with and actually won three out of the four. Feels good to not get raped by every car I go up against. Unfortunately my car was nearly undriveable yesterday due to zero traction in 1st and dicey at best in 2nd. I never got in a clean run, the closest being the one where I only wheelhopped moderately through 1st and short shifted 2nd. See slip below. I had a blast as I do every time at these events, but I just couldn't drive my car today and that was frustrating. Even when I semi-hooked off the line I would blow out the tires at the top of 1st. Car felt really fast yesterday and for the first time I wished I had DR's. |

I hate websense!
I always have to wait until I get home to see pictures. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. I'm probably going to 75-80 next week when they re-open. |

2 modified ones were running high 10's at around 125-126. stock ones were hitting high 11's in the 117-119mph range. they cant launch worth crap though without using launch control, which they wont use. Of course comparing their launch to a 6 speed RWD car is not fair, for a high HP awd auto tranny car, their launches are weak.
