Just got AA tune..need moar breathing.

I just got the AA tune, paired with the N51 engine, and I love it. (2010 328xi) The gentlemen that did the tune said to just throw a drop in filter in there, yet I don't see how that really "opens" the air intake up, because of the charcoal filter. (I know I can remove it)My second option is to get a euro box, which I'm leaning towards...what would be the best thing to do? Do you think the filter would be adequate enough? Or just go the EURO route?

I went euro air intake with the k&n cylindrical filter - and scoops for good measure. The engine always feels ready to rev.

Friend has same set up. It's the best option and the scoops DO make a diff.

I have the AFE scoops + Stage2 sealed intake with oiled filter, no tune yet, but the car does feel better and sounds nice.

I did used eurobox & air filter ( dry AFE)

The charcoal remove should be okay too. I would check to see if what filters are available for USA airbox. ie Dry AFE

try the charcoal delete first, you can then buy the euro box if the delete is not enough

You have to cut out the charcoal filter and drop-in a K&N. But wear a face mask, it'll get really dusty if you decide to do it. I have an authentic Gruppe M I bought a couple week back. The reason I didn't go with AFE or Injen is because I hear those actually lessen the power (they're all just noise) so a Gruppe M finally popped up and I jumped on it. There are proven power gains from it and its pretty loud. Other then that I would have only gotten a BMW Performance Intake but that was wayyyy too expensive. But after you get the intake you have to get a reflash so the AA tune adjusts to it.

No. The ECU will adjust automatically. That's why you have a MAF.

I don't believe there is any empirical data to support them. The idea seems right though. Thats why most of us do it. I put them on but it just made me jam the pedal to the floor harder so I could never really tell. Probably a placebo effect but I did it just to try. It's that right price where you don't really mind throwing down.
