Lpfp upgrade worth or not?
Hey guys I'm planning to get protune this spring, the question is which way to go? Currently I use cobb e30 maps and I want more power, just don't know should I get e40 protune with stock lpfp? or buy lpfp (mess with all that headache during installation) and protune e60 to get max power?
Is it a big difference in power between stock lpfp e40 protune and upgraded one with e 50-e60-e70???

Yes you can squeeze more boost and advance out of E60 than E40, E60 is pretty optimal for tuning and the benefits diminish after that.
Doubt you can support E60 on stock low pressure, maybe if the pump is new and healthy. But not over the long-term. I’d log and prepare to upgrade, it’s really not that bad an installation.

I would say pull the trigger on a pump, you will only benefit from it, it will take stress off of your stock lpfp and you will be smiling from ear to ear with the power.

D you still running the FFTEC pump? Mine just went in a few days ago..no issues so far outside of it providing way too much flow WOT, like 90 some PSI lol. Need to reset the adaptations…but trims look perfect and I love how the car starts *instantly* with both pumps priming.

Pretty much required to start mixing more E85 to take the power to the next level after FBO.
Even if you did squeak by without needing one you'll be running that fuel pump at the ragged edge. Pretty cheap upgrade also and tank can be reached without dropping tank. |

IDK about the revs jumping on cold starts, when I start the car after work tonight I’ll note roughly what revs it climbs to on start. I want to say it’s more like 1.5K revs but not positive. Boost leaks always rear their ugly heads. I need to replace all my vac lines, I’m def getting some small leaks and it’s not cool.

Is there any reason or benefits to running an inline pump if I'm not planning on using ethanol? Will it help anyone who's FBO but not using e or meth?

Oh yea. Big change in terms of what you can tune for. With the way E60 cools and pulls out heat from combustion, you can get pretty aggressive and still have acceptable EGTs and pressure. It’s good stuff.

Wow it's nice to hear that your pump is still alive esp when using e50. I was planning to use ptf e40. And the question is that much of a difference between ptf e40 (stock pump) VS PTF e60 (upgraded pump)???

Best in terms of quality and flow? FFTEC E85 Walbro. PITA to install, probably overly complex, certainly overly expensive. But I’m happy with mine. Only thing I don’t like is how the inlines are just hanging out/floating in the tank, no good spots to mount or otherwise clamp them down. It’s not a big deal but annoying.

Thanks!! Will consider doing this, it’s not a big deal but I’m not wild about the pump just floating around.
