Yep, thats exactly how the ESS Direct Flash works.

Nice. Good to have options. I'll probably be looking into a tune after I get an exhaust next week.

the unit is actually made by dimsport, as we have the same thing. It records your stock file, then you upload it to the tuner, and they modify it and send it back to load on the unit. The only differences in the units are the file that comes back.

Another technology that is interesting is the eurotuner. It is a lot smaller, and allows for multpile files to be added to the car. IE race tune/stock/etc

same thing, tune at your own will..

Lots of cool options out there these days..

Im a n00b with car electronics but does anyone have a good place locally to get a decent sub-amp wiring kit? Ground, power wire, fuse, hi-low converter, fuse, and speaker wire. Was looking into this kit from crutchfield, but prefer to get it now instead of waiting on shipping. The car already has a factory amp, so I would tap the subwoofer amp into the factory amp, then power to the battery and ground it etc.

Went to a local shop in oak park that specializes in alarm and stereo installs but they say its way too complicated. HA HA. If anything, do you guys have a recommendation?

But seriously...best buy does installs...you could try talking to their install guys and feel them out.

And then clean yourself up. And see if they'll trade you some stuff for beer or something.

Yeah I went the Best Buy route for my stereo upgrade. Bought all my stuff from MusicarNW on here but let them install it up in Killdeer (recommended as they do a lot of bmw work at that location). I won't lie, Best Buy geeks are hard to work with, they had tons of questions, but it was cheap and they did it all correctly so I have almost nothing to complain about.

Speaking of which I think I might sell off my SWS-8 Earthquakes if anyone is interested. I might just go the traditional sub in the trunk route now instead.
