I'm ready to get the tune from them, but I'm trying to get a before/after dyno done at another shop and I haven't heard back from this other shop. Hopefully this week.

Good work on getting an independent dyno. Do not tell the shop doing the dyno what you are doing.

Yeah, I'm not in a huge rush to do it since it's winter, but I really want to get it .

After next pay day and getting dyno scheduled I'm all in though, so hopefully like a week, less than 2.

And how much does a dyno typically cost?

Depend where you live from 50$ to 100$ for usually 3 Pulls. The tuning what cost you the money range from 250-500$ or so but for bmw it a different case cause our ECU are lock so they have to have a special computer to hack the ecu. So it usually cost bmw guys about 800-1500 for us to get a tune

What is the best technique for automatic on a dyno? We should standardize a procedure so there will be less variables (different dynos, elevation, etc) when comparing results.

most likely a-spec, they're just really bad at picking up their phone lol.

I will be going to umbra tomorrow so I'll try to swing by a-spec while I'm over there and get something scheduled for next week!

Someone is finally buying my allroad this weekend so I'm busy taking care of little odds and ends on it.

Nice! Evolve originally tuned my E46 M3 on the A-Spec dyno. Since then, I have been doing all my dyno work at Dean's Performance. Despite him being mostly a Mustang shop, he's been dynoing and tuning a lot of VS Motorsports client's cars.

I'd highly recommend him if you are willing to give him a shot. Plus, he has two significantly bigger and faster fans than A-Spec.

Best of luck! Let me know when you schedule everything, maybe I can join you for a dyno session!

Awesome news dude. You'll probably be the first guy doing this on his D at VS. I noticed you are located in the same state as them. How far of a drive for you to get this tune done?

Not recommended at all! We're pushing as much power as we believe is safe, especially due to the constraints of the transmission.

Did that concept not come from running a jbplus on top of a Dinan tune? That would be understandable given the very conservative output of that tune.

Very cool! Hope everything goes smoothly.

Do we think an evolve-r version (home flash on laptop) will ever be available for this ECU?

I actually will be close to VS in the next couple of months and could get this done, just concerned about the dealer overwriting it and the whole hassle associated with that...

TIA!

Impossible to say when the remote version will be available unfortunately, the ECU is still completely locked out for remote tuning - hence the next best thing in what VS can now offer. Of course there is the hassle of overwriting but we don't predict there will be too many of those, not like with the N54.

I'm happy with the JBD's power, but this tune will probably have a different power band. I also like the convenience of not having to remove anything when going into the dealer.

Let's say if the dealer upgrades the ECU's software will the tune be removed? Also does this remove the rev limiter or the speed limiter?
