XI suspension on non-XI?

Will the OEM sport suspension for an e90 xi work on non-xi's?

XI has its own components, they are different from the sport and non-sport

spool and I attempted this and teher are 2 problems

1) XI struts sit higher as the front axles are in the way. the 335i struts drop farther down into the wheel hub and teh axle prevents you from installing them
2) the XI struts taper towards the bottom whereas the 335i struts are about the same diameter at the bottom
