BMW owners and modding

After owning my e93 for about 3 months now I've become much more conscious of other bmws on the road and I noticed very few of them are modded, particularly the e9x series. This is SoCal I'm talking about and bmws are a dime a dozen around here yet I've seen maybe only 2 or 3 modded so far.

However on the other hand it does make mine much more unique among the crowd.

You said it yourself - everyone owns a bmw - this website represents a very small percentage of owners. Most owners buy the car, and never even open the hood.

I'm not a fan of many of the exterior mods I've seen people doing to their BMW. I don't like the murdered out look, the black lines, the carbon fiber anything, the diffusers and list goes on. It's all personal preference though.

It's because most people in our area buy them because "omg i drive a bmw look how baller i am" these are the same people that take their cars in to the dealership to put air in their tires. The small percentage of us that mod are the ones that appreciate our cars for more than just the brand. (Just my opinion)

Well, I'm not in Cali, but if I had a choice between spending my money on cosmetic mods or mechanical mods... well, you know.

'course right now the only mods of any kind that I have are a fire extinguisher, a BlendMount for my V1, window tint, and of course the Cobb. Because broke. (and trying to get everything perfect before just tossing mods at it.)

Edit: I forgot the Euro headlight switch. I did do that... why no rear fogs BMW? Some of us need them because we drive places with fog, not just because we think they look cool. (those are Audi drivers <G>)

i dont think any exterior mods would make a stock 335i look ricey as long as theyre OEM or from a known vendor

It's rare to even find a modded Civic in my area (something you can't say in most places), God forbid a BMW. I don't even see many BMW's on the road here anyways. Just '06 325i's that people get on the cheap that they never wash or take care of, yet they just want that "I drive a newer looking BMW" status. Hell, the majority of people around here can't tell the difference between a new F30 and an '06 325i.

I see A LOT of modded BMW's in Socal. Obviously the majority don't mod but those are the ones that never catch my attention.
