Is your switch broken or just peeling? Just trying to figure out what you are trying to accomplish...

You are correct on the pressure clips...I highly recommend buying one of these,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAR-AUTO-INT...item41704fc1ef

I bought this one...I begin by pulling the front (closest to hood) up then moving my way around the piece. I should come back rather easily from there. Mine was peeling and was told I could not separate the mechanism from the cover which is not true. They come out quite easily and will pop back in just as easy...

Hope this helps

Anyone know if there's any way to find the actual plastic switch itself as opposed to the entire lifter assembly? Can you buy an individual passenger switch and take off the small plastic part?

My Driver side window stopped rolling up. Passenger side window works fine with passenger side switch. I am in process to replace driver side switch. It is quite a simple process to pop up the switch with any sharp tool. I manged to popped it out, the lights are on, how can I confirm if the switch are default. Is there any switch checking mechanism? As we know electronics parts are not refundable so being cautious before ordering the parts. How can I confirm if these switch are bad?(08 328i coupe)
