The Z2 looks fucking horrendous.
Why are BMW doing this. Why. dilluting the brand. especially the introduction of FWD. Terrible.

Even the turbo 4-cylinder engine is a bit depressing.
I know it is the same power as the non-turbo 3 litre and uses less fuel..... but it can't have the same sound or NVH. |

BMW are about rear wheel drive. There was a BMW TV advert years ago, showing RWD are better than FWD cars, and that RWD makes the perfect 'Ultimate Driving Machine'. Now that they have this brand, they are going to ruin it (IMO) with this FWD rubbish. What they should have done is create another new brand to make their FWD stuff and leave the BMW brand RWD.

Personally, anyone saying "I drive a BMW" and then it turning out to be an FWD 3cl "engined" car - is more than enough for me to say this is dilluting the brand and a sad development.

That's called marketing. In time, they may well bring out an ad. saying the opposite. Personally, I don't have a problem with this, it's called development and advancement. Why can't a 'brand' change? Why can't a successful car company change aspects of their design? Who knows, in 5, maybe 10years, they won't be developing so many new petrol engines (if any?),... I don't see why that would be bad if they are on the cutting edge of new developments in technology.

But presumably developments in FWD have improved over the last say, 20years. I would expect BMW to build some of the best FWD cars available employing the latest developments and technology, wouldn't you?

Totally agree re developments, but corruption is corruption what ever way you look at it. And too be fair to BMW they’re on looking at it on small cars at the moment. But what next? A three cylinder FWD car, with a premium price tag? No thanks I might as well buy a Pug 106 and sky the money I save.
