Many suspension choices, need some help deciding

My modding trail has no led me to this point. I have done CF wrap for the interior trim, m3 tri stiched perforated steering wheel sway, and BMW ssk. For the exterior I have added on the m3 lip spoiler, aero front lip, tints, and the performance exhaust. Which leads me to the next part, suspension.

Upon reading through the threads on the M3 suspension this has brought me to a new dilema. Here are the options I have(listed below). I have read various threads on the LSD and performance thread as well. There seems to be great improvements with those mods as well.

If you only could pick 2/5 which would you pick and why.

1. OEM ///M3 suspension components:
-wishbone links, guides, tension rods, subframe bushings, strut brace
2. BMW Performance suspension:
- Shocks, springs, front sway bar
3. Quaife LSD
4. Aftermarket Coilovers
5. 19" VMR CSL reps

EDIT:

5. 19" VMR 710 gunmental

Depends on what your goals are? if you track the car or is the primarily your daily driver?

If its your daily... then coils and wheels, cause the car will look better and sit nicer. Plus, you can remove and sell both items when you are going to sell the car.

Getting maatte black emblems instead of the debading. As far as just springs, I am a bit weary of utilizing the stock shocks.

It is in between a track and a daily driver.

I think in the end my best route would be to go with the performance suspension and rims/tires.

Start with wheels. I would choose forged 18" rims rather than 19" reps. You might want a summer/track set and a winter set. Good tires make a big difference, but they wear out.

I like the BMW Perf kit -- but I liked the price of the old one better.

On a budget I would try and find some good used wheels, Koni yellows or fsds, and BMW Perf springs. And DIY.

hey stressdoc, been keeping up with your suspension thread, very imformative. however I am still up for grabs on which direction to take with my suspension???

I have E92 that I track (aggressively) 2-3 times a year and do autox during the season. however, this car is by far STILL my daily driver more than anything. the track/autox is far inbetween during the year.

so....

what would you or OP who have experience doing both types of driving recommend for a DD that sees this type of action?

- BMW Performance upgrade?
- M3 suspension upgrade?
- Coilovers?
- incl. camber plates? etc...

You consider any LSD's? You would def benefit from getting traction on the inner wheels while tracking.

I have read through 2-3 threads with guys not liking how stiff the yellow springs are that come with the BMW suspension kit. I also see how Mr.5 is planning on getting a set of those yellow springs. I believe he is also using the car as a DD while tracking it. I also read that the rear rod guides sacrrifices the ride quality quite noticeably.

LSD = +1 from personal experience on a 330i.

As far as the suspensions mods make sure you are looking at both the BMW Performance suspension packages that are available for a 330i - not sure if both options are available for your 328i but a quick look at realoem will tell you for sure. Here is a summary:

PN 33500429574 is a package that brings the car to the same level as the M-sport package in Europe. If you have a non-sport e90 then you add the standard sport springs to this package. If you already have the sport package then you leave the current springs and just get the package stand-alone. The net effect is a firmer suspension package than the sport or standard non-sport suspension.

PN 33500444832 is a package that requires that you purchase the performance springs in addition to the package itself. It is more firm and lowers the car additionally beyond the package above.

The option of retrofitting M suspension parts would be additional to either of these two. I opted for the 9574 package (on order from Tischer) because I'm in the midwest and the roads are not the best. I already have the sport package and did not want to go lower with the car.

If I could only pick 2 items, id pick 1 and 2. In place of CSL reps Id go for V710s

Sorry - I didn't answer your question in my last post. I'd go for 3 and then 2 in that order.

LSD - I'll assume that you are talking about an LSD in general. I don't have a quaife but do have an LSD. If you get it built with a gear ratio change this will be a performance mod that you will really feel in acceleration and low traction conditions.

Performance suspension - this combined with the LSD will really beef up your ability to corner quickly and also tighten up the overall responsiveness of the car.
