Opinions please: Looking to purchase
Hello all,
I am looking at purchasing my first BMW, and I just have a couple of questions. http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/3175278860.html Above is the link to the car I am looking at getting. I drove it today (8/11/12) and I was very impressed. The price is a little high I believe for private party and this is why I came here. Pros - Inside and out the car looks brand new ( I have entered cars in shows my entire life so takes a lot for me to say that). Drives great and there are absolutely no road noise or interior noise. It has been garage kept since it was first purchased and it looks like it. Cons - Wheels need to be re-chromed (salt on the roads here destroys chrome). Needs brake fluid flush, oil change, alignment, and front brake service. Guy is asking $17,900 and said his lowest would be $17,500. This is $1,500 over KBB excellant condition at 80k miles. I have some estimates of how much all of it will cost, but I wanted to see what everyone thought. I am looking at another tomorrow, all the same except silver, different factory wheels, and 8k less miles and he is asking $15,900 (priced exact to KBB private party). I was thinking the most I would spend is $16,500 because it is legetimatly in excellent condition minus the wheels. What does everyone think? I want to thank you in advance for any advice...THANK YOU!!! and I hope to join the BMW world soon |

That is a rip off. I got my 2009 328i E90 last month for $18k fully loaded minus navi with 60k miles and from a BMW dealership. It may seem like it's in perfect condition because he is a great detailer. The car being 7 years old with 80k miles seems a little shaky to be paying that much. This is just my opinion. And selling a nice BMW on Craigslist is a bit shady, lol. Especially since he said it needs to be sold quickly. Get a full Carfax report for sure.
PS: absolutely ugly wheels btw you'll need to change those.. so add $1.5k.. |

Thats about what I thought. He is attatched to it big time, he doesnt want to sell it but his wife is making him get rid of it, therefore the must sell fast. I know the pricing is high so he wont sell basically. I can have the wheels powdercoated for $75 a wheel. I know all of the detailing tricks i promise, I made a point to find touch up paint and anything wrong and really it is in supurb shape.
I am going to look at the other tomorrow and low ball this one after, I think $16k and walk away if no deal and when he has it for another month and his wife is pissed ill get it even cheaper! |

+1 it cost a lot of money to have them professionally redone in chrome You will probably have to have it blasted off or get a new set of rims

you can not get a 335i for 17-18k i just did a quick autotrader search and found 3 for under 20k and all had 90k miles or more.
I just bought mine with 50k miles and paid 25. |

I really love the 335i but the turbos are just more things down the road that will need service. It is worth it to me not have to drive 1k miles to save $500 or so. I know it is too high and I am def. not going to give him what he wants. I have been quoted $110 a wheel to re-chrome (that is triple stage chroming, i know a owner).
I am still looking around as well and not jumping straight into this I promise, that is why I came here, to ensure what I was thinking is correct. I dont mind ebay if I can drive there in a few hours and look at the car, I am not going to buy or put down payment on anything that I cant drive and look it in person. Thank you everyone and anything else please chime in |

Woah HUGE ripoff. Keep looking, patience is the key. For the car you're looking at I wouldn't pay more then 15k. I've done my fair share of research on 330i's and this was a year ago so prices depreciated a tad more by now..
