UPDATE: Somehow the misfire code got cleared. (maybe cuz i flashed back to stock?) Anyways dealer won't change them unless there's a code. I asked to see what index# they are, but they might not even do that if they have to tear it down. Bonus: they are replacing my transfer case and dsc sensor under cpo... supposedly they are going bad. I'll have take it in again if the misfire happens. Also what is the newest index 11 or 12?

As far as replacing 1 injector, the injectors must be -11 or -12 in the same bank. If you have old injectors in the bank that are -10 or less you need to replace 3 injectors of the same bank. The injector install is easy for the injectors themselves. 30 min MAX. Just remove cowl, 3 bolts on engine cover and then undo the fuel rails and lines which is REALLY easy. Then there is just 1 bolt holding down the injectors. As far as coding, an Indy shop shouldn't charge too much to code or you can look into remote coding services or DIY. You just need the cable and software. Quote:

It's easy to find the index, just remove the cowl, engine cover and you can see the injectors index, it's the last 2 numbers after a long list of numbers. |

Most flashes will clear codes after each flash, including going back to stock.
Think it would've been risky just to keep my flash tune on and take it like that to the dealer?

Best bet is throw the code stock. If it doesn't throw it stock that means you are out the cost of whatever it is. When you run a tune, there is more load and more heat. That's why problems that happen tuned may not happen stock since there is less heat, load and boost stock. If misfire, it could be spark plugs or coils, most commonly. Swap coil to a good cylinder and see if the misfires follows, then you know it's coil. If misfiring on multiple cylinders it's likely spark plugs. Replace them every 20-25K miles when tuned. |

Grr, I think I might be having injector issues on my production date 09/07 335i. I assume I'm SOL (i.e. there's no extended warranty for that date)? It's pretty annoying this only covers some years since the cars all share the same injectors.

So what about 2011-2013 335is with N54? Guess those weren't inflicted with the injector issues mostly after 2010? Ok..

Hey Jeff, I also just purchased injectors from Rock Auto. What info did you submit on that form for the Repair Order and Proof of Payment?

Did they say anything about it being a non-BMW part? I could see them denying the claim because it's not OEM.....
[QUOTE=Jeff@TopGearSolutions;19230815]I supplied proof of payment. Status is still pending. I used the invoice from Rock Auto. |

So I recently started having misfires on 4 and 6. I had the coils and sparks changed. So I am leaning towards the injectors as the problem. Does this warranty only cover vehicles bought from BMW or do I have to buy this warranty... New just wondering how it works?

BWM reimbursed me for the Rock Auto injectors!
So guess who just received a check for $687.21 from BMW to cover the cost of the six Rock Auto injectors I recently purchased. They even covered the shipping costs. The request was processed and the check cut two days after I submitted the request.

Yes, the Rock Auto invoice as well as a copy of the PayPal transaction as evidence of payment. I also included a separate document with all of the information they requested (name, address, VIN, date of repair, mileage when repair was performed, a description of the symptoms and why I replaced all six, and a parts list with cost information). I said there was no labor costs and the injectors came with decoupling elements. I also included a photo of the six old injectors as further proof that I did, in fact, replace them. I'm not sure the latter was necessary.
