Life of winter tires

I have a set of Dunlop Sport 4D winter tires that I have used for 4 winters. I typically drive about 15000 miles a year. How long do the tires usually last?

From my experience, the effectiveness of a winter tire comes down to two main factors. Tread wear and probably as important, the "spunginess" of the rubber compound. You need winter tires to not dry out or their effectiveness really deteriorates in terms of performance. So as long as you have good tread life and they are soft(spongy...can't think of a better word at the moment) life should be good as far as the tires go.

Most see about 20,000 cold winter miles or more out of a set of winter tires. This is typically three to four winter seasons for many drivers.

Sounds like you've gotten a good amount of life out of them, OP. As Gary mentioned, you could expect to see 20,000+ miles from a set of tires like that.
