BMW and their lawyers agreed to it in March at the fairness hearing in SF. The turbo wategates are warrantied by BMWNA for 8 yr/82k miles just like the HPFP is warrantied for 10/120k miles. If someone still has their Class Action Settlement notice, Class counsel's contact info is on there. They were helpful for me

Yes but todays update changes that as of today. The initial increase in the class action suit was 1 year/12k I thought? Either way, the 8/82 is postponed according to BMW

^Again, I don't know about all States, but in CA the turbos and wastegates are part of the emissions system and warrantied by the manufacturer for 7 yrs/70k miles. The settlement is an additional 1 yr/1200 miles for the turbo wastegates.

I had the service manager call me today saying he needed to talk to me ASAP. I left him a return call voice mail, but haven't talked to him yet. I'm thinking they are going to start questioning my cars warrenty over this..I've always said it usually isn't good news when the service manager calls and not just the service associate. Should find out what he wants to talk about some time today.

Well i just got off the phone with BMW service manager and it seems BMW had one of their main guys come by and look at my car and they found my meth line under the car and flagged my car. I had it tucked and hidden very well and everything off the car besides the line. So now my car is a 1000 pieces scattered over the floor of Flow BMW here in NC. They said i have 1K in labor and parts already in the job and that I would have to pay that if they just stopped and let me take the car or they can finish the job for $2600 total....not a happy camper!

No i did not authorize anything. I took the car in and they said they were going to do the repairs then i get this call today. I can not believe they found the meth lines to start off with. They were tucked and wrapped in that black flex cover crap and hidden with the electrical lines in the engine bay. Look I understand you have to pay to play and I'm not really trying to put something over on BMW, but hell don't tell me one thing then change your mind 2 days later and tell me how much i owe them..that is bull.

well i felt the clutch slipping horribly when i first got the car and luckily the owner before me didn't use the ONE clutch replacement covered under CPO. Lucky me lol would have rather him not burnt the shit out of the clutch and have that one replacement saved for myself but in the end i only ended up paying 50 dollar deductible under CPO. Im sure if its going or slipping they will tell you but if anything just bring it in and ask them to check it out....im sure they wont have a problem with it...

Note the Dealer or BMW reps will Inspect you car to cover the guidelines on their end
If any signs of tampering "dme cover" meth lines, catless downpipes, even ,Dci's the dealership can deny the claim Or work at anytime

^ With regards to BMWNA paying for warrantied repairs, I'm sure they're applying a lot of pressure on dealers to identify mods that could affect the warrantied part.
Which mods, aside from a fmic maybe, 'help' the turbos? I can't believe the folks on this forum complaining about BMWNA not paying for turbo/wastegate warranty work when they bring their cars to a BMW dealer with a tune, dp's, meth, etc.

So what's the current status with this?
Ive heard BMWNA is appealing the courts decisions and this is on hold and ive heard no, it's a solid 8/82 extended warranty for the turbos (wg's) now set in stone... Can anyone confirm one or the other? Btw it makes sense BMWNA will be stepping up the pressure on dealers to identify mods... this lawsuit is going to cost them a chit ton of money in extended repairs. |
