Hi Guys,

I'll start by saying I'm new to the forum and my searches weren't giving me much valid information for my cause. I figured there is no better way to get the information you want other than tailor your own thread around finding what you want.

I just got a 2009 E92 and am looking to put some rims on it this summer. I know what style I am going for (Probably the Beyern Multi style or something that is available in one of the companies smaller divisions). I know BMW sell 19" wheels for the e92 and they're okay from a size aspect but if I could fit 20"s without any extra work I'd rather do that for the look. I will however, settle for 19" wheels If I have to because there are potential problems that arise with 20's due to width, camber and offset and would look advice on getting around these.

I would appreciate advice from people with both 19" and 20" aftermarket wheels that know what they are talking about and could give me some advice to guide me through my buying experience. I think I should also make it clear that I am looking for staggered wheels with a nice and defined lip.

So please, share some of your wisdom on aftermarket wheels with me. I'm not looking for comments telling me I'm trying to go for a bling look when I'm not, just a classy and sporty look. Let me know what you have got on your car (specifications wise) and point me in the right direction!

Well hopefully the haters dont take over this thread and start bashing you for considering 20s.

I have 19s and 20s so maybe I can offer you insight on both.

My 20s are front 20*8.5 with offset 34 and rear 20*10 offset 37. I run 245 and 285 tire.

20s work fine in a number of combinations. I would find the wheel you like first then get the specs to see if there will be fitment issues. I would get a quality multipiece wheel if you are going to get 20s. They will take the potholes much better than a 1 piece wheel. In fact my 19s (1 piece VMR CSL) bend easier than my 20" multipiece wheel.

20' with a steplip look way better than non-lip 20's on the E92.The ride on 20's with a non-runflat tire is similar to the stock runflat tire feel but not quite as good.You'll also lose a little power in the car but if you're planning on modding the car for more horses than what the hell.Definitely get a quality wheel if you roll 20's and watch how you drive.....

I appreciate the input so far. I am definitely swaying toward the 20s because it just looks so good. I figure that if I get a good quality three piece wheel I can keep the weight a lot lower than if I went with a one piece.

and they are shown in 20's too. I think its a pretty hot combo. But I can find them cheaper than 1200 a piece!! and thats without tires and TPMS ouuuch!

If I were to go for a one piece should I stick with 19's? and which brands would you guys recommend...the BBS's dont really do it for me. I like mesh wheels and I know BBS are excellently built but I feel like too many people have them and I want to do something different.

I'm running 20's on KW V2's and I have no problems or regrets.
Width, camber, none of that should be a concern. There are plenty of 20's on the market that can be made to fit your car perfectly (though I don't know about off-the-shelf wheels, mine are custom made).

Go 20's you won't regret it

If you're looking for custom 20" wheels that will fit your car perfectly, check out HRE, DPE, iForged, 360forged, Iconz, Forgeline, etc. A lot of custom wheel manufacturers these days. Most of the brands I just listed range from 700-1200 a wheel though, if I'm not mistaken.

If you're in love with those Hamann wheels, you might want to check out the DPE S-15's.

0Okay...I have done alot more research on the wheel options now and am still torn between 19's and 20's. What is the best looking and functioning offset for 19's and 20's in your opinion?

Further, for those of you with 20's that have the stock sport package suspension without a drop or aftermarket springs....what offset and tire specifications do you guys have that has worked without rubbing or fender rolling on an e92? I would really appreciate it if you could send me the whole specifications for you wheels and tires for example:

Wheels
5x120 - Diameter/Width (Front Back) - Offset (Front & Back) - Lip size if staggered....

Tires
Width (mm) - Profile - Diameter.......and brand name and model.

Also...pics? so I can see your set ups...

So I would say go no larger than 19 inch, for both the look and performance. You lose some performance with a 20 inch wheel. I think these cars look best with an aggressive offset, so don't be afraid to do some fender rolling if needed. And lastly, I would say you definitely need to lower the car a bit to make any wheel look right. 20's with out a drop at all will look like a 4X4 monster truck.. Here is a pic of my setup:

Do you have any pics of your dad's setup? That's sounds like a great deal brand new with 452's. Do you plan on lowering the car at all? I'm not sure about what offset to go with on the E92. The E90 is a bit wider in the rear. I'm sure there are some great shops locally that can do some minor fender roll if needed.

I think your wrong in that factor i had 20s on my stock sport suspension and some people still thought my car was dropped. Some 19 inch setups are great but i prefer 20's all day....

20 is too big and looks out of proportion for the 3 series. 19 is the perfect combo of style, comfort, and performance.

bump...I really reallly really need help knowing what the biggest wheels that will fit on my stock sport suspension are without rubbing or fender rolling...

Im going staggered and could be getting them very soon...please help...also...what widths and offset? also what tire widths to prevent rubbing...

With 18" wheeels you can drive like you stole the car.
With 19's you'll spend most of the time dodging pot holes.
With 20's you'll be too afraid to drive into the city..........

agreed but you can't pass up the looks when you're going in the city with 20's and you have everyone staring at your car.

I went with 19's but I might do 20's on my next set up and the roads in nj aren't they best!

I have good roads in orlando...mostly...hardly any potholes but a few

if i get twenties...what width and offset will fit front and back without needing fender rolling?

I have 285x10.5x20 in the rear with 40 offset and zero rubbing and no fender rolling...

20*10 with 37 to 42 offset is ideal on lowered
