How to know if brake discs need replacing?

I know I need new front pads as the warning light comes on, but How to know if brake discs need replacing? Pls advice....

Because they are really worn, rusty, have large lips on the rim or are measured to be below the minimum recommended thickness.

Really what he said ^^^

The minimum disc thickness is usually only a couple of mm less than the new thickness, so if there's a lip that you can feel, chances are they need replacing.
