Cool Kidney Grill

Hey I have a Black Sapphire Metallic 06 3 Series Sedan and I've recentley started thinking about changing the color of grill.

Right now I have the stock Chrome Grill and I was thinking about either getting it "Matte Black" or "Glossy Black."

I've seen a lot of pictures of both types of grilles but I haven't found any with pictures with the type of grill I have on my color car.

So could someone please provide me with pictures of an E90 Black Sapphire Metallic with a black grill.

Thanks

There's tons of info. Check out the cosmetics forum, everything's pretty much about grilles and angel eyes. Also check out the photo/media gallery. As for my input on the grilles here's what I suggest.

Matte-black if you want a more aggressive sporty look. Looks great with matte-trim, badges, etc.

Glossy if you have the shadowline trim/mirrors (09+). OEM and looks amazing on a black car.

Since you have an 06 and no shadowline, I'd probably go with matte.

I would go with matte black for some contrast, I prefer matte on a darker color as body color tends to blend in.

I have a space gray E90. I will be painting mine matte black (SEM trim paint and duplicolor adhesion promoter..after a sanding block, of course!) Will post pics when I do it. I think you should do matte finish. ftw!

Here are some pics I just took. Installed the matte black grills 3 days ago. Look great on the black sapphire.

2 pics- w/ flash and without.

pics don't do it justice b/c the camera pics up glare off the grill that really isn't there.

Now I hear some people say that they prefere Matte Black because it adds contrast to the car. Saying that having a glossy black grill blends in to much with the car.

What's your take?

I don't think that is the case. Others may prefer matte on their grille, it's what works for you.

For me there is enough obtrast that you can tell it is different, but the matte would have been too much contrast for my taste. Since it matches the frame around the doors, I feel like there is some flow between the exterior body moldings.

However I am still debating mixing and matching the two OEM with the performance, so that I have the glossy outer frame combined with the stock chrome slats. Anybody else tried this?
