Installed twin disc x-clutch and flywheel, now excessive noise.

I installed a x-clutch twin disc, mfactory smfw, ecs transmission mounts, new guibo, and brass pivot pin. I get a crazy grinding chattering noise, and vibrations. The noise is only heard in gear under load and in neutral with revs. No noise with clutch depressed.

These videos don't do it justice, its very load and apparent from inside while driving.

Garage List
I had a Tilton twin clutch plus a single mass flywheel on a S50 engine and it was far from being quiet... at idle even the transmission (MT) was chattering... and the launches were harsh, engine ignitions were beating through the trans to the chassis... but that was due to the single mass FW and no springs in the clutch itself..

Honestly, what did you expect? Why do you think BMW (and everybody else) installs those expensive and fragile dual mass flywheels?

You are probably aware of this but FWIW, you expect the noise to cease when you disengage the clutch. The noise is from gears in the transmission rattling back and forth reflecting the periodic changes in crankshaft rotational speed (i.e. momentarily faster when each cylinder fires). The noise does not come from the flywheel or clutch itself. The whole point of the DMFW is to damp out those periodic variations.

Didn't expect it to be this bad.

Yeah it sucks - but performance comes at a price. Even with a dual mass flywheel it is clearly audible in my M3 (although my 335 is silent with the OEM DMFW).

That does sound pretty shitty in my opinion. I have a Spec stage 2 clutch plus steel flywheel and it sounds like a tractor at low speeds but the more you rev it the less noticeable the sound is. No other knowledge on clutches to add, just stating how mine sounds.

Yeah, id always expect more noise when adding more moving parts and clamping strength

Ive never heard a quiet twin disc
