Extended Warranty

I have the chance to extend my extended warranty within the next week. Its a 2006 335d with 60k. They want about £750 for a year fully comp......... It seems a lot as a lump but what do people think?

If you check my previous posts
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=453005
and
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=604307

do you think it may be money well spent???

Cheers in advance

I bought my 335d expecting to have to have to buy the warranty every year. Have had several thousand pounds of warranty work done, £750 wouldn't even come close to covering it.

That was my thoughts but needed reassuring. I am a little uncomfortable with the difference in reliability between this and my old 2001 IS200. I had that little beauty 5 years and it didn't miss a beat. If the new one (ISF excluded - too dear at the time of purchase) didn't have wood trim in top spec and had offered a decent engine (P O W E R) I may never have got the 335d...... Bloody glad I did BTW way but its spent more time in dealership service departments in 1 year than the Lexi did in 5 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well worth it, especially on a 5 year old car. Be careful if you are thinking of remaping though as it could screw your warranty if they find out and you need to claim on it and the remap may have caused the issue.
You may not have any problems if you had to claim - but its a gamble.

Remap is on hold/not an option as the mrs is turning it into a family wagon while I fold myself into her Z4 for a year......Sad Face.com

its a lot cheaper if it has done 59,999 miles than 60,001 miles!

Either way, I chose to extend mine, and would reccomend it

I think it depends if you have 1.5k to fix a major issue. And if you wouldn't mind parting with it.

The 335d isnt known for being problematic. Small things yes but all the common things would be covered by a 650 spend at dealer prices. 750 + dealer serving is it worth it for a d. A 335i yes but for a d I'm not so sure.

The Dpf might go around 100k that's not covered, never heard of a blown turbo on the d, only rare instances of gearboxes playing up. Check the vacuum lines and the boost hose before your current warranty expires.

DPF was replaced when i bought it as part of a nightmare pickup (see my previous threads), Actuator was also replaced as part of the same situation. Just replaced some vacuum lines (again see previous thread "shrieking") but had to pay??!! I feel like I've bought a bit of a lemon but it seems BMW arent the best for reliability...... don't get me started on how great my lexus was.... Maybe I'll see what White ISF's are down to now......
