Leather and Leatherette

Does anyone know where the leather ends and the leatherette begins? I know a lot of manufacturers use real leather on the seat face, and vinyl on the sides and back...does BMW do this? How about the door trim...real or not?

I am asking so I know what to treat with "Leather Conditioner" and what to treat with "Vinyl Protectant".

I saw that Zaino Z10 claims to work on both...is thus really true?

Don't know if they work on both, but I really like the Z10 product. I hope the leather will last a long time by using it. BTW, I use 303 protectant for the parts that I know are not leather.

BMW uses leather only if you have the leather option and leatherette only if you didn't opt for the leather option. But the steering wheel and the gear shift area is real leather regardless. (at least in Canada and the US)

I believe the door panel trims are leather...I believe the seats are all leather, that is why we have plastic seatbacks (?). This is evident in non black/beige interiors, BMW doesn't make leathrette in terra/grey/lemon etc

To clean the wood I just use a damp microfiber towel and wipe it down..It works very well

Still curious about the Zaino product...is it really good for both vinyl and leather?

How about the center console...Leather or Vinyl if I have the Premium Pkg?
