Exclamation Low battery right after Battery Recall was done

Hello guys so i took my car in for the battery cable recall, it took about 1 hour 20 minutes in and out to get it done. But after about 40 miles of driving throughout the day, i got something to eat later in the night, and i turned off my car and sat there for about 3 minutes and i get a light on my I-drive saying Battery level low or battery fluid low? cant remember, but is there any reason why this would happen? any suggestions would be appreciated. thank you!

You are not the first to bring this up after the recall was done. This worries me because I just bought a new battery.

On another thread I read about this the OP just kept driving and it was gone after some time.

This just happened to me. Got the battery recall done last week. Three days ago i got the warning for 'increased battery discharge.' Took it back to the dealer because I assumed this was no coincidence. The dealer called back to say the car needs a new battery, but they gave me a new one for free because I'd bought the car only a month ago. Dunno whether it was truly a coincidence or if the 'better' electrical connection exposed a weakness, or caused one.

they are unrelated topics- I have the "increased battery discharge" before...and after the junction box cable fix. From what I understand, they need to reprogram the computer so the alternator puts more current to the battery...then again I've also been told my car doesn't "go to sleep" overnight and that's why it's discharging

Yeah I texted the technician over at BMW of Davenport right after i got the warning, hes a cool guy i know him, and he told me that I probably need a new battery or it needs to be charged, but I think it's BS because my car was fine before that damn replacement. I don't think it's fair that I would have to pay for a new battery if it was fine before hand.

Bringing my car in Wednesday to get the recall work done. Hopefully someone will get a solid answer on what is going on before then.

I hate to say it, but I'd really consider getting someone to code the proper battery type (agm or no) and the proper Mah rating, then reset the battery.

I know its ridiculous to have to to this for something a simple as a new battery, but there have been quite a few bad results from impropery battery specs.

I got the battery discharge warning after cable replacement but found out they left the radio on running and tried to blame me but after them charging the battery it was fine.

Got mine done on Monday of this week and no issue whatsoever. Must be a sporadic thing?

This is probably the answer...two types of batteries out there....the car has to be coded for the right one so it knows how much juice to give it from the alternator.

Not 100 percent sure, but one type is lead acid and the other ?

I had the recall done on my car last week.

I had a yellow low battery warning when I first got the car about a month ago but it went away after a day. I let the service adviser know that when I brought my car in and they said they'd do a check and they actually charged the battery for me.

No issues since then.

Just got my recall notice in the mail. Anyone else have problems with increased discharge after the recall was performed?

The low battery warnings I got a couple of years ago stemmed from an intermittent fault in the IBS - which resides in the negative battery cable. The recall deals with the positive cable so there should be no problem unless the battery is going south.

Mine was done a few days ago with no issues - other than having to leave the car for two days because of the high recall volume.
