This is going to screw up the Household MPG!
320d ED - 55+ mpg
640d - 40+ mpg 5.0 TVR - dont ask! Collect in a week or so! 5.0 35,000 miles. Tip Top condition, excellent chassis, loads of history. Dealer just giving it a major service, and replacing all the carpets (faded). |

Yup, Big shame they have gone away. Perhaps one day they will resume in some shape or form. I think building their own engines was the death of them..

I had a 5L Griffith for 4-5 years. Fantastic car. Only broke down once too do all the stories about reliability are rubbish. (flat battery - my fault).
Just drive it as much as you can and keep it on a trickle charger in the garage. I still miss mine. 😢 |

Last France tour I did there were a couple and both were problematic.
I do quite fancy one though, WGAF about reliability - the bits in between are going to be ace

Very nice.
I would love a TVR and do have a look through classifieds dreaming that I might have the balls to do it one day. That or a Lotus Esprit V8. |

Thanks. My wife has had one before (450) and used it daily on her commute.
It never gave us any trouble. They just hate being sat about as others have said. We have a nice garage for him(?) to live in, and will get a trickle charger. The main reason you dont want it to go flat is the battery is in the front of the passenger foot-well and of course if it goes flat the electric buttons for the doors dont work! It is coming from one of the original garages near me for TVR; Fernhurst. Their levels of prep and attention to detail are second to none. We spend 30 mins going round (and under on a ramp) the car, making a note of everything they are doing to it, from re-carpeting, full 12k service, new numberplate and some paint on the rear bumper..... Should have it in a week or 2! |

(if the Mods want to move this to off topic BTW, sorry it isnt very BMW in topic!)
I would say the Tuscan and cars with TVR's own engines are a bigger "risk", although this can be mitigated by buying a car that has have a rebuild by TVR Power or similar. On Chim's and Griffs, it really isnt as bad as you would think. The cars are simple, the engines actually very reliable. You just have to keep on top of it and make sure everything is tip top. The main things are: Cooling system, Rust (chassis and outriggers). In terms of complexity, there isnt much to go wrong! This one we are buying doesnt even have PAS! |

Really nice toy. I test drove a new one back in the day but bottled it and brought a new e36 3 series coupe instead. It would have been everyday car and £500 service every £6k miles plus fuel put me off.
If I was to buy one nowadays I would buy from your dealer. I often look at their stock list. You pay top money buying from them but for reassurance and quality of car worth it IMO everytime.
