MT will solve the AT lag problem I guess?
It's not even close. The throttle on the AT feels like a sponge.. I don't know how anyone can stand the AT.

It's pretty unfortunate. A close friend has a '12 335is with the DCT and even that is lackluster. I'm not even talking about the usual "shitty in traffic" complaint, but moreso the lack of throttle response-- seems like I really have to stab at the gas pedal to move anywhere. I wouldn't trade my 6 speed for any of the BMW automatics, not even dual clutch.

I've found that the 6AT is always 2 gears too high in D mode, 1 too high in DS.

+1 for considering the manual.

Is there any software that could reconfigure/remap the AT transmission?

You could just google this information, or you know, use the search button.

I had an X3 loaner today and hated it. It might as well been a Ford Escape.

I have a 2011 X3 and just purchased a 2012 E91 manual. The
x3 right now feels a little quicker actually, but I have added a tune to the E91 along with an Afe dry air filter, it livened up the 328 nicely, but I just also got a 3 stage intake from a 2006 330, but have not installed it yet. The X3 does have the stage intake, I think this is what allows it to breathe better.

Congrats!

E91s are awesome. I almost bought one then went with the convertible.

Didn't see the 2 hours drive passby while getting home. Played with all the gizmos in the car! Discovered also that the mirrors when you back up tilt toward the pavement. Too cool!
