Do I need to change my oil?

I drive maybe 8000 miles a year I am considering doing oil changes every 6 months do I need to are is once a year ok?

if i were you:

lease....let the dealer do it every 18,000-25,000 miles....

purchase.....every 5,000 miles(in my case)

Once a year wouldnt be bad in your case. Assuming you are actually keeping your miles down that low. Trackrat likes to claim that BMW is the only koolaide maker around. He would tell you to run it for 2 years. Oil over time with cooling and heating cycles loses viscosity, REGARDLESS of miles on the motor.

I personally run my oil for 7k miles before changes. That is about 6-8 months for me.
