So I've never been able to see my album art and from what I've read up on I should. When I connect my iphone to loaner cars via a USB cable I never have a problem. Why am I having a problem with my car?

Typically I stream audio from my iphone 5 via bluetooth but I think it would be cool to plug in so I can see album art. Should I be using the usb/aux Y connector from the dealership or just plug straight into the usb?

Again - when I plug my iphone 3 or 5 into the Y I'm connected and can play music but I don't see album art. I can't seem to be able to play music when connected with my usb power cable and cannot see album art with with either chord! What am I doing wrong?

***I have a 2011 e90 with a build date of 2/11. I have idrive/nav/bluetooth/CA/HK/bmw assist

Here is what I see on my e90

Here is what I want to see - from my 135 loaner

I think you need later release BMW - after November build 2011 - there is a thread about what is and not available and how - on iphones and BMW versions.

I also think this is hardware and not software updatable

Well guys I got it to work. The problem was the cable. I was using a usb cable I purchased at Wal-Mart instead of the official Apple USB cable. I always thought they were the same thing but obviously not. Weird.
